Namaste Zoran,

>Parashara also states that 9th from the sun is taken for father..why

not 10th?

This is a good question. You have sound reasoning and I also agree

with taking the 9th as the main significator for the father.

My suggestion is that perhaps the 10th should be looked at as a

secondary indicator of the father, in the same way that Parasar

recommends to look at the 5th and the 12th for secondary indicators

of wife.

BPHS 32 32 ...and the 7th house wife. It is also said that a planet

in the 5th house becomes a Karaka for wife.

BPHS ch 23 5-6. And if the 12th's lord is in the 6th, or the 8th

house... one will be devoid of happiness from wife... If he be in an

angle or trine, the native will beget a spouse.

Note the Arudha of the 12th house also indicates wife.

Jataka Parijata also recommends the 5th house as another significator

of father. For chart rotation, the 9th seems the logical choice for

father, just as the 7th, not the 5th or 12th is taken for the wife.

But I wonder why several houses have been given for these various

relatives, and what their individual meanings are. Sometimes it

appears that the various houses are looked at in the same way:

BPHS "If Upapada is a malefic sign, or is aspected or conjunct a

malefic, one will become an ascetic or go without a wife"

Compare to Bhrigu Nadi p438 "If the lord of A7 is debilitated, and

that pada is aspected by Saturn the native takes to ascetism or his

wife dies."

Best Regards,

As I stated, 10th house cannot be taken as father as a body/personality.

It

is true that 10th lord tend to influence father by being maraka. Further

each

graha in 10th house would have argala over 9th house thus influencing

father's life. Parashara mentions 5th house of belonging to wife, and

each

graha in 5th house would have laabhargala over 11th house thus directly

influencing wife. What is more, 5th house is ending house of 7th house

bringing children as results of marriage. As far as 12th house is

concerned,

it rules physical felicity between the couple that results in progeny in

the

form of its arudha(upapada)

That means that strong and favourable 12th lord would give physical

felicity

between the native and the spouse, he would get a spouse and futher

progeny..

Yes, 5th house is natural pada for 9th house. Thus logical

That is all logical,Alex. Afflicted upapada may deny marriage and

progeny,

while A7 ruling dara pada and sex partners, would deprive native of

sexual

pleasures/partners..

Namaste Zoran,

You have a sound logic. The 5th rules the begetting of progeny which

needs a wife, and also is the indicator of lovers. The 12th rules

sex, which needs a wife. However there is more to the 12th house

designation of wife, as the pada of this is taken as the primary

significator of wife.

There are other relatives, such as the brothers that have multiple

house reckonings, the 3rd and the 11th. In this case the 3rd is the

primary house. Likewise children is also from the 9th, which is the

arudha of the 5th, the primary indicator.
