Namaste Nandan and others,

I am doing what Nandan asked. If you cannot follow this post now, you

should be able to follow it after reading my book.

Let me take Satyam Gaur - the elder twin from the "twins" example on

my homepage.

November 4,

1970

Let us just just one issue - intelligence. Intelligence is nothing but

the ability and potential related to knowledge and intellectual evolution.

Abilities and potential are shown by 5th. Matters related to knowledge

and learning are seen in D-24. So let us see the 5th house in D-24.

+----------------------+

(1) Basic influence: The 5th house shows intelligence/abilities. It

is in Aq and Mercury occupies it.

Mercury is an intellectual planet and he makes one smart in 5th. He

is an earthy planet and shows stable and well-contained nature. His influence

on intelligence shows stability, balance and solidity in one's intellectual

style.

(2) Rasi aspects: Mars and Sun have rasi aspects on 5th. The nature

of the influence cast by a planet through rasi aspect is based mostly on

its inherent nature (that is why only Jupiter and Mercury's rasi aspects

are considered in a strength rule in Narayana dasa!). The influence planets

cast on a sign through sign aspects is based on the signs and their relative

positions and NOT based on lagna and houses. It is like the residents of

a house always having some influence, through regular interaction, on the

neighbors.

Mars and Sun are weak malefics. Their malefic rasi aspects on Aq cast

an undesirable influence on 5th. Authoritative nature and some arrogance

(Sun and Mars) may interfere with the development of intellectual ability

(5th).

(3) Planetary aspects: Saturn has 10th aspect and Mars has 8th aspect

on Aq. Presence of sign aspect is decided based on where a planet is and

the influence exerted is decided based on who the planet is. OTOH, planetary

aspect (graha drishti) is decided by the who the planet is (Jup aspects

5th and 9th, Sat aspects 3rd and 10th and so on) and the influence exerted

is decided based on where the planet is. While sign aspect is judged solely

based on rasis and planets, lagna and houses also play a major role in

the judgment of planetary aspects.

Saturn is the 5th lord himself. He is a yogakaraka. His aspect on 5th

is very beneficial. It enhances intelligence. Mars is a functionally neutral

planet for Libra lagna. He is weak and his aspect on 5th has negligible

influence.

(4) Argalas (interventions): Saturn has the 4th house argala on Aq.

The 4th house argala shows the basic driving factors. The 8th house shows

one's spirit of probing the unknown. This spirit (8th) is the basic driving

factor in deciding one's intellectual ability (5th). It shapes one's intelligence.

Argala on the 5th house by planets in the 8th house casts light on this.

Here airy Saturn has argala.

Fire is the transformative state. Fire's role in intelligence is in

the digestion of stimuli. Earthy nature's role is in retention of past

experiences. Watery element's role is in the extrapolation of experiences.

Airy element leads to expansion and ether leads to perceiving the ultimate

reality and being immersed in it. Airy Saturn in 8th creates an expansive

spirit (positive, airy) of probing of the unknown (8th). If Saturn was

weak or a malefic for Taurus, this would've been a confused spirit (negative,

airy) of probing the unknown. His argala (intervention) on 5th shows that

an expansive spirit of probing the unknown forms the basic mood of his

intelligence.

Venus is a good planet from Aq. He is in 9th (guidance, protection).

The 9th house is the 5th from 5th and has a secondary argala. The guidance

received by one (9th) in one's intellectual evolution (D-24) also has a

secondary intervention in the shaping of one's intelligence/intellectual

ability. Venus in 9th shows creative (watery) guidance received by the

native from teachers and elders contributed to one's intelligence. However,

Rahu and Ketu in 3rd obstruct this intervention. This shows some stubbornness

(Rahu and Ketu in 3rd) coming in the way of this creative guidance and

obstructing it. Periods related to Venus and Ge may particularly bring

good guidance from teachers and elders and periods related to Rahu, Ketu

and Sg may bring obstructions by way of stubbornness.

(5) Shadbalas: These are mainly for finding the planet that will give

the results of a yoga. For example, Gaja-Kesari yoga is present here, though

very weakly. Moon has a higher shadbala and will give its results in his

dasa.

(6) Ashtakavarga bala: Though the 5th house Aq only has 24 rekhas in

SAV, Mercury has 6 rekhas (out of 8). So he blesses with good intelligence.

(7) Avasthas: While various strengths show how strong a planet is from

various angles, avasthas show the mood and state of a planet. Even a strong

person may be sleepy and not be productive. Similarly, the Sayanadi avasthas

of Mercury (planet in 5th) and Saturn (5th lord) are Nidra (sleeping) and

Mercury is in old age (vriddha), while Saturn is in dead state (mrita).

Overall, they are strong, but not in the right mood. So the native is not

a great intellectual or a particularly intelligent person. He is an intelligent

person, but nothing too special. He was basically more intelligent than

his younger twin (who has the same rasi chart but a different lagna in

D-24).

If Mercury was in good avasthas too, this person would've been a very

special person in terms of intelligence.

I have to sleep now. If I have time in future, I MAY do the same analysis

in Sivam Gaur's D-24 chart:

November 4,

1970

Time: 16:08:00

Time Zone: 5:30:00 (East of GMT)

Longitude: 76 E 53' 00"

Latitude: 30 N 44' 00"

We can also try to analyze the 5th from arudha lagna instead of lagna

and analyze people's impressions.

May Jupiter's light shine on us,

Narasimha

PS: I know that things may still be unclear, but this is about the best

I can do at this time...

PPS: I remember the multiple dasa example request. I will do it when

I have time.
