Guest guest
Dear list members NAMASTE ! I am interested to know how to calculate the tribhagi variation in dasa. What is the significance of such calculation?Which part of life can be predicted properly through this variation ? is there any software available to calculate the same. bye bye tc

I use my own software. Eventually, it will be available to public through SJVC. Tribhagi variation is very simple to compute. Tribhagi means "one with 3 parts". Each dasa is divided into 3 parts and only one part comes at a time. After one-third of each dasa comes once, second one- third of each dasa will and finally the last one-third. Let us take "Tribhagi Vimsottari dasa" as an example. In normal Vimsottari dasa, we get 6 years of Sun dasa, 10 years of Moon dasa, 7 years of Mars dasa, 18 years of Rahu dasa etc. In Tribhagi Vimsottari dasa, we get 2 years of Sun dasa, 3.3333 years of Moon dasa, 2.3333 years of Mars dasa, 6 years of Rahu dasa etc. After one cycle of 9 dasas is over, we get another cycle and then the last cycle. Thus we have 3 cycles of 40 years adding up to 120 years. What is the significance? Well, we are covering the entire zodiac now!! Normal Vimsottari covers from janma nakshatra to the next 9 nakshatras. Tribhagi variation covers all the 27 nakshatras. It is truly a nakshatra dasa. The nakshatra whose dasa is running can be taken as the progressed janma nakshatra and natal/trabnsit chart can be analyzed with respect to it using nakshatra chakra (Sarvatobhadra chakra). Tribhagi variation shows us how to use nakshatra chakra and how to get serious with nakshatras. In fact, some Vimsottari dasa principles in literature have roots in Tribhagi variation. This dasa basically maps the 360 degrees of the zodiac to the 120 years in one's life. This is all I can say for now. Let me give an example before signing off. Take Jayalalita, whose chart we discussed recently. February 24, 1948 Time: 14:36:40 Time Zone: 5:30:00 (East of GMT) Longitude: 80 E 18' 00" Latitude: 13 N 05' 00" Using 360d years, here are the calculations: Vimsottari Dasa - Tribhagi variation (started from Moon): Maha Dasas: Ket: 1946-12-29 (04:32:42) - 1949-04-17 (04:32:42) Ven: 1949-04-17 (04:32:42) - 1955-11-12 (04:32:42) Sun: 1955-11-12 (04:32:42) - 1957-11-01 (04:32:42) Moo: 1957-11-01 (04:32:42) - 1961-02-13 (04:32:42) Mar: 1961-02-13 (04:32:42) - 1963-06-03 (04:32:42) Rah: 1963-06-03 (04:32:42) - 1969-05-02 (04:32:42) Jup: 1969-05-02 (04:32:42) - 1974-08-04 (04:32:42) Sat: 1974-08-04 (04:32:42) - 1980-10-31 (04:32:42) Mer: 1980-10-31 (04:32:42) - 1986-06-02 (04:32:42) Ket: 1986-06-02 (04:32:42) - 1988-09-19 (04:32:42) Ven: 1988-09-19 (04:32:42) - 1995-04-16 (04:32:42) Sun: 1995-04-16 (04:32:42) - 1997-04-05 (04:32:42) Moo: 1997-04-05 (04:32:42) - 2000-07-18 (04:32:42) Mar: 2000-07-18 (04:32:42) - 2002-11-05 (04:32:42) Rah: 2002-11-05 (04:32:42) - 2008-10-04 (04:32:42) Jup: 2008-10-04 (04:32:42) - 2014-01-06 (04:32:42) Sat: 2014-01-06 (04:32:42) - 2020-04-04 (04:32:42) Mer: 2020-04-04 (04:32:42) - 2025-11-04 (04:32:42) Ket: 2025-11-04 (04:32:42) - 2028-02-22 (04:32:42) Ven: 2028-02-22 (04:32:42) - 2034-09-18 (04:32:42) Sun: 2034-09-18 (04:32:42) - 2036-09-07 (04:32:42) Moo: 2036-09-07 (04:32:42) - 2039-12-21 (04:32:42) Mar: 2039-12-21 (04:32:42) - 2042-04-09 (04:32:42) Rah: 2042-04-09 (04:32:42) - 2048-03-08 (04:32:42) Jup: 2048-03-08 (04:32:42) - 2053-06-10 (04:32:42) Sat: 2053-06-10 (04:32:42) - 2059-09-07 (04:32:42) Mer: 2059-09-07 (04:32:42) - 2065-04-08 (04:32:42) Venus is the 5th lord (GL lord!) in 10th. He is exalted. He is a great yogakaraka. His dasa was during 1989-1995. During 1990-1996, she was the chief minister of an Indian state. Moon is in Maksha star in Leo. The first Venus dasa during 1949-1955 belonged to Poorva Phalguni star. The second Venus dasa in 1989-1995 belonged to Poorvadhadha in Sg. During this period, that becomes progressed janma nakshatra. From it, karma nakshatra (star of activities) becomes Bharani. The 4th quarter of Bharani is afflicted by Rahu. So the last part of this dasa may see the native engaging in some shady activities in society. Jayalalita indeed has many cases alleging corruption by her in 1993-1995. She was actually convicted in one case. As Uttarashadha 2nd quarter is in the 8th house, Sun dasa saw her losing power. From the second half of Dhanishtha, 8th house ends and the 9th house starts. So her woes ended in the second half of Mars dasa corresponding to Dhanishtha (2000-2002)! From Dhanishtha, karma nakshatra (start of activities) has vedha from exalted Venus (GL lord!) and abhisheka nakshatra (star of coronation) has vedha from Sun. This dasa gave her kingdom (chief ministership). Two key ideas: (1) Take the nakshatra corresponding to dasa as janma nakshatra, find special nakshatras from it and use Sarvatobhadra chakra (nakshatra chakra) to judge influences (natal & transit). (2) The duration of a nakshatra's dasa can be divided equally among the longitude arc it represents. Based on planets and key points in those parts, we can time events. May Jupiter's light shine on us, Narasimha
