Guest guest
Dear readers KAD's reply is well done and must be considered, than the people beating about the bush and in circles. As this is what we are told from early days on why it takes 40 days. AND THE NEED TO START THE FRESH 40 day CYCLE IS ALSO THERE, after all if our Karmashesha is good then we can complete in 1st attempt of 40 days, if there is some more dosha or evil balances we do it a few times before completing it successfully do all patients get cured in the course of the docter's prriscription? no. it is plus or minus, do all patients take them in time as said no, but here the situations simpler u can stillfinish the course no of pills on the next dat at least. but with prayers if a limit is set it is better to follow it most importantly some descipline is ensused and that itself gives good self confidence and good results too flow. prashant kadrudra <kadrudra wrote: Dear All, Besides what others have explained already, the LOGICAL rather astro- logical reason behind 40 days seems to be the cycles of Sun, Moon and inner planets. An astro-remedy always has a psychological back-ground and the remedy virtually strengthens the MIND first making the native FEEL that he is on the right track. The mind is always has a relation with Moon and the Sun. In 40 days, the Sun would have moved to next sign - say by 40 degrees; the Moon would have revolved 1.5 times around the Earth (27 + 13 days = 40) traversing EACH STAR(which is important in Vedic astrology) and making TWO definite combinations with Sun - Full Moon and New Moon. The inner planets Mercury and Venus would have moved considerably; would have changed their retro/ direct motion! When so much happens in the Zodiac, the native FEELS the change definitely, if not completely. This creates a positive move on the psychological grounds. Then follows the astrology! yours humbly KAD , vattem krishnan <bursar_99 wrote: > > Dear Vikas, > Our reverred friend has given a very very factual explanation and significance of 40 days fasting. > All such remedial measures also need faith and trust in vedic approaches. In the words of a very renowned astrologer and a prolific writer in jyotish says"the success of astrological advice ,especially on any impending problem, will be potent in avoiding or alleviating it than arguing that the event must happen as predicted..Most of the remedial measures are meant to boost the morale of the suffere but to recommend and prescribe them would be to take astrology to the soosaying level of divining.' > Some problems require will and require identification that needs some type of sacrifice.Kuch pane ke liye kuch khona hai. > All these require deeksha and dedication.40 days are to be seen in that direction. So it is not really to be continuous. > krishnan > > panditarjun2004 <panditarjun2004 wrote: > dear friend vikas > > sage veda vyas has written that there is not best penance than > fasting. sage angirasa has explained in detail how fasting helps. he > narrated how fasting for how many days would get what benefit. jesus > did continuous fasting for forty days, so did moses spent forty days > in prayers. the difference between good friday and easter is 40 days > observed as holy by christians. according to doctors, in such long > duration fastings, the toxins in the body are eliminated. the nineth > month of islam is observed as the month of fasting. there used to be > a time cycle of forty days and forty nights. nine cycles of forty > days gives you 360 days. > > in southern states, every winter many people take a 40 days diksha to > impose self discipline, abstain from sex even in winter, non- > vegetarian food and liquor and remain saatvik for these 40 days > continously ending it with a visit to the lord atop a holy hill. > > according to many scriptures, continuous fasting or prayers for forty > days is the maximum advised for penance. hence any remedy done for > forty days continuously shows the maximum penance or self discipline > one can demonstrate. there are many more mythical reasons from all > religions for forty days of continuous fasting and prayers.
