Guest guest
Dear J_R members, Now that this tribunal against RR is some hours old, starting with I believe message 26731 posted at 10 AM on 8 april 2006, followed by many others, I think now it would make sense to respond and state my side of the story! It is 2 PM on sunday. So, about 28 hours of RR- bashing has been allowed to take place already :-) Quite recently some 5 out of 4812 members have spoken against what they perceive as objectionable and one-sided behaviour on my part). In addition to name-calling and personal derogatory remarks about pills and diseases etc, by name, allegations have been made by these people include: criticism, sarcasm, ego, belligerence, etc. Additionally there were aspersions made about my ability or contribution to astrology etc. One individuals could only go back a couple of years in gauging my worth and ability and decided to voice the sentence! Three of these four individuals consider themselves victims and two were bystanders who did not even sign their emails. Please do the math! Few points: I do not recall ever having criticised or attacked any of the astrological reasoning given in readings. That would be in bad form because it could create doubts in the mind of the nativity and I must assume and believe that they are paying sincere attention to the readings. I cannot say the same for everyone else! When an off the cuff remark, generally written in the tone of certainty as if it is astrological gospel or well tested tenet is made by a member, when interested I have chosen to ask about illustrations or examples. This is not a sin or crime and is expected in a public forum. There are a lot of unsubstantiated claims that are made in jyotish and these must be questioned and challenged. This is not criticism and clarity must be sought by all who are serious about jyotish. Unprovoked, I have never made fun of anyone's writing style or content or disabilities, expressed or obviously perceived. I am not insensitive to people's feelings and miseries, regardless of perceived opinions of a few. Yes I can be sarcastic, but not out of malice. It is interesting that an individual due to his bias may see light jest in someone they do not like as blowtorch sarcasm while in another individual considered a 'sympatico' as mere 'jest'. One of the plaintifs in this tribunal against RR have quoted the home message of this list indicating that Tanvir said, "No sarcasm". I am attaching the copy and paste from the home page. Probably my aging sight is responsible for not finding it there. Maybe some of the younger, more keen sighted brothers and sisters would show me where it is said in the welcome message! Now for the ego thing. People say that I come across strongly, they are confused if I am the owner of this group etc. When did I ever say anything to that effect? Is it my fault that people misunderstand, misrepresent and overreact? Why is what I say hurting them so much, which buttons am I pressing so hard, without my even trying or intending to? I think I have a mature ego, despite all these direct allegations, mostly overblown and name-calling that has gone unnoticed and so on by the moderators, these individuals are now asking the moderators to punish me. In hindi there is a saying, "Ulta chor kotwal ko dante". How interesting! Yet, dispassionate observers will notice that I did not hurl insults back but calmly addressed issues that I thought were important misconceptions on their part. Is that a sign of arrogance, or a bloated ego? Have I ever rattled on my achievements or accomplishments or which committees I belong to or the rest of my CV? Would I not have if I had a weak but bloated ego as accused by some. Compare that with the utterances and behaviours of some others! I am passionate about jyotish, regardless of what someone may think about me based on half-hearted searching of what I have written in this forum in the last couple of years. I am not going to even bother giving a list of my contributions because that serves no purpose. Those who care will find out or have found out, hopefully a few of the silent ones that are in the MAJORITY represented by 4812 minus five, described at the outset of this post! I do not live in India, but I am faintly aware of there being a very active political scene in the field of jyotish there. Jyotishis fighting against jyotishis. Some are based on different approaches, different schools, different flags and different beacons and teachers. Other sociological factors and factions are also playing a role in these politics. There is discrimination everywhere, but generally aimed at people from a different religion or different country and race etc. Probably only in India one would find discrimination against one's own kind, in terms of race and culture! Despite government's and people's attempts, I hope classism and casteism and other isms have really gone down and not playing some role in the jyotish politics. Only people living in India can tell for sure! One or two individuals, recently have decided to teach me a lesson and have tried to use their barbs against me. Unfortunately, very quickly they began picking on wrong things, blowing up and overreacting and revealing their true nature despite their outwardly claimed saintly, poised and spiritually strong natures. Interesting maya to observe for all students of human behaviour. All that is fine, but by this message I hope I am able to show how people can misperceive and see things where there is no reason to blow things up. How individual perceptions play tricks! This is with something that is right in front of you. How much more of these personal subjective biases can play a role when one is interpreting something like jyotish that is symbolic is alarming! Just a caveat to be watchful about as we go through our jyotish journeys and tend to take things said by people as gospel without critically examining and questioning and challenging their brazen and at times false or misunderstood reasoning (or lack thereof!). Hopefully my last post on this matter!
