mr. govind sethia's seeking son is no sin

dear friends

 

in our support to stop female foeticide we cannot brand all those

parents who wish to have a son as evil.

 

i preach and practice in unequivocal terms that killing any infant

both after birth and before birth (in the womb) is a sin. in all

urban cities across india, there are so many hospitals (including

few dedicated hospitals in metros) for termination of pregnancy. no

one finds fault with them even when they dont know whether they are

killing a boy or girl. just becase a child who has taken shape is

not wanted (reasons vary in each case and no general rule), the baby

is terminated. these pregnant mothers have the courage to face the

society for the rest of their lives and lead their lives but dont

have the courage to let their baby in the womb live. in the name of

emancipation, freedom and choice these termination of pregnancies

are legalised and no one finds fault with them.

 

there is no general rule as such for all human beings alike. having

multiple children is no sin in northern states of india. having a

single child is a law in china. some states in australia and other

countries are giving 500 dollars for every new child born and they

encourage more childbirths. muslim nations have no ban on having

more children. in some countires, male children are given

incentives so that they could join the defence forces and protect

their motherland. with varied laws and cultures, no single sermon

is applicable to all humans alike.

 

astrology provides how to plan for a male child or female child as a

choice for the parents. this is written by all sages in various

classics. these days some modern couples are asking the astrologers

to suggest a best birthtime so that at that time they would go for a

ceasarian opeartion and have the child born to have a great birth

chart. several astrologers are too willing to help those parents

and also use science to their convenience. in these astrology

groups also, these discussions took place earlier.

 

in conclusion, my understanding is that the native mr. govind sethia

is raising his two female daughters with love and care. all he is

asking is for an addition into his family and is seeking to know

whether it is possible or not. female foeticide is a subject which

does not figure in his case at all. if we are to discuss this

subject like we are discussing on all other social subjects, it is

fine but not on his name. my feeling is that every member is trying

to paint as if mr. govind sethia has committed female foeticide

which is wrong as he is a noble father who is raising his two female

daughters.

 

the objective of this mail is "the querent mr. govind sethia is a

living example of a person who has NOT committed female foeticide

and every one is painting as if he has committed a sin".

 

if a querent comes to an astrologer seeking a job change or better

job prospects, no astrologer gives him a sermon of comparing himself

with all those unemployed people.

 

if my understanding of mr. govind sethia is wrong and any member

wish to prove him of committing any female foeticide, kindly educate

me.

The name of govind setia seeking son is not condemned nor has it been linked to

foeticide.probably what has been felt as personal view is that 'why people feel

important to have a male child?"Is it 'coz of any link to our sayings in

sastras.Infact for that matter to wish for a son or a daughter is personla

choice of the concerned family.I know many families wish for girl child and

welcome birth as if Maha Lakshmi is born into their family.In fact an issue more

of geneder discrimination,a social evil today.

femalefoeticide but his first initial reaaction by way

of reply to Shri tatvamasi's astrological predicition

and advise is was out of order, I can say, He lost

his balance and spilled his hot words thro his mail.

this somehow took the entire group discussion to

female foeticide. It is only leading to one more

analysis of this female foeticide subject whether

planetary configurations has a play because this wasnt

existing maybe 4decades back. Lets pray that this

barbaric act of female foeticide comes to an end.

yes you are right in saying that his reply to respected tatvamasiji

was not in polite language. in my message number 26076, i mentioned

the same to him in a gentle manner and requested him to use polite

language while writing to an astrologer and also requested him to

give due/respectable sambodhana.

 

in your concluding remark you said we shall pray for an end to

female foeticide. in my opinion even male foeticide is as barbaric

as femlae foeticide. in other words termination of pregnancy by

using convenient modern language is also foeticide and barbaric.

you said aright that what a native seek is his or her individual

personal choice.

 

according to vedic scriptures, there is no difference between shiva

and shakti and hence both a boy and girl are equal in all terms. if

one likes a boy and the other likes a girl, let both be happy in

their own ways without criticising one another.

Arjunji, Krishnanji, Gopuji, Tatvamasiji and friends,

No one has been accusing Mr Setia of any sin regarding his query.

Kindly do not mix up the issues and defend Mr Setia who is not here

in any case.

Clearly, there are two issues here;

1.Sri Setia queried, our senior member Tatvamasiji replied and

counselled him that daughters and sons are equal. Sri Setia was

publicly rude and impolite to Tatvamasiji.

Sri Setia should have apologised for his rude outburst which he

didnot. That is the first issue which is now closed.

2.In the consequent thread about discrimination between the

male/female child etc the suggestion was made that such querists

should be ignored or discouraged. This was just a suggestion which

members are free to ignore too.If any astrologer wants to no one is

stopping him. Please see the underlying thread that in Indian

society even now thereis gender discrimination and perhaps we should

contribute in our own little ways to give a direction to the events.

That is about all in this thread.

And let me remind us all about the dictum that jyotishis should work

according to desh, kaal, patra.

There is plenty in jyotish shastras which is not applicable in todays

age, lets say combinations which suggest marriage at the age of seveb

etc. Let us get out of this syndrome then andtake up our individual

responsibilities.

Dear Friends,

It is unfortunate that the issues got mixed up and continued in the

same thread. To long for a child and its gender is the prerogative

of the parents. None to dispute that.It is natural that people long

for male progeny when they have daughters and vice versa.

The language/way of address to a learned member of the forum was

objected to.

As the desire for male progeny when it becomes a frenzy, especially

in some parts of south India, female infanticide became

rampant.Infants(girls) were choked to death with paddy seeds and the

milk/juice of poisonous plants. Though infanticide is in itself

horrendous, female infanticide is higher in percentage as regards

the other. This was brought to light and the general discrimination

in the gender issues was talked about. All children irrespective of

gender are the gifts of God and are to be treated alike. It is

inferred that every sane individual would do that alone. No doubts.

Nobody would even think of accusing Mr Setia of being a sinner. How

can one accuse another of committing a sin as we are all doing it in

one way or the other.

No offence meant and none taken

Dear Friends,

Often we come across such type of issues.one or other will be having this kind

of communication.may be moderators have to help us and when some code becomes

necessary.As most of us are in our own way have some thing to represent .Some

times even the questions too are so direct to answer in the manner some body

desires.It hardly is our concern to talk about gender of the progeny.what ever

we are able to indicate is based some principles that govern such topics.

I sometimes feel that we are too obliging group too as very query is taken in

an earnest regard to respond.Some of the querists(might be) considering our

replies when dealy in a tenor that sounds for basic compliances,often disregard

repartee situations are created.

Also the views too swing widely and some times more in depth to consider all

allied issues.All misunderstandings crop up as the interventions based on a

thread are not made in logical sequences.Is it that we feel that our say matters

always?Anyway the topic dealt of some social evils prevailing for various

reasons as on date.If Govind Seti failed to grasp and failed to respect views of

senior member it is just unfortunate episode.
