Guest guest
Dear Shri. Raaj: Performing Shani Abhishek with oil is good to reduce the effects of adverse transit of Saturn. But, this should be done with a Pandit and not personally. There is a tradition among South Indian Brahmin Pandits who will keep the Holy Ash from all havans in their house, but the Navagraha Havan Ash will be used only on the day of the performance of Havan. They dispose the holy ash of navagraha havan because, they feel that having that with you will invite the influence of shani in your life and may give rise to troubles. Who ever told you not to do the abhishek of shani idol personally would have followed this line of thought! Now-a-days, people are in a mad rush to satisfy shani bhagwan in an attempt to get rid of his angry gaze...But, in reality, Shani Bhagwan is "Dharma Raaja" personified......He will trouble a person ONLY if the person has done evil deeds, and shani does not trouble an ethical person much....and if he does trouble such persons, the good turn he does at the end of the trouble will be immense! Doing abhishekams out of fear upon him is akin to trying to bribe an honest and angry police officer....It will only invite more trouble. Instead, try to get the bail order from a competent magistrate ( higher Deities that have overlordship over Shani Bhagwan like Bhairava, Venkatachalapathy, Lord Dharma Shaastha, etc.). This will be a better option. My Guruji Pandit. R.DAKSHINAMOORTHIJI used to recommend only such options instead of a direct propitiation of Lord Shani. However, there are certain hymns in praise of Shani Bhagwan like the Shani sthothra said to be composed by the great King Dasaratha (Lord Raama's father) which are surely remedial for troubles arising out of shani's evil transit. Also, chanting of Vishnu Sahasranaama will be helpful. What I have said here are mostly in concordance with my Guruji's views. Best regards. --- raj1114 <raj1114 wrote: Dear Sir, Please clarify me whether we can do Shani Abhiskek with oil on Saturday ,as some we have to do and some says we shouldnt. Guest guest
Hello raj, Any Abhiskhekam performed to the idol installed in a Hindu temple is a kind of holy bath. The ingreindts used consist of various pooja materials apart from:Til Oil,Atta, rose water,Ganga Jal,curd, milk,Honey sandalwood paste, rose petals and camphor. The holy baath is given to Idol/Moorthy by reciting Purusha Sooktam and in the case of Lord Shiva Rudram Then follows alankarana.ashtottara sathanamavali pooja and mangal harathi and neerajanam with .it is performed in the early mornings. In case navagraha devatas also the procedure for abhishekam is same and first oils applied to the complete idol and as mentioned above the rest of the procedure is followed.Additionally til is also used at the time of abhishekam.Normally the preist only has to perform after taking bath and after completions naivedyam and neerajanam, again baath is to be taken.Prasadam offered is not to be taken home and preferably distributed at the temple. Giving oils baath is part of the tradition and even in old culture the baath to the head is always with oil only.Go's were not given any exception for abhisekam. In case of saturn in tepmples sani devata is always coated with oil. krishnan raj1114 <raj1114 wrote: Dear Sir, Please clarify me whether we can do Shani Abhiskek with oil on Saturday ,as some we have to do and some says we shouldnt.
