Anyone interested in sociology/scriptural history can comment on how long dowry pratha goes back in Indian society (I know other societies also have the system and some have nearly eliminated it -- would be an interesting thing to study later). One wonders if such societal norms that have lasted many many years or longer have some link with astrology as it applies to societies and cultures? Since cultures for the most parts tend to arise and develop in specific countries (despite recent emigrations to a minor extent and in some of the nations which were populated by immigrants (much to the disadvantage of the natives-but let us not go there!) AND since countries have been associated with planets and signs (despite different opinions about those -- so what is new?) it would be interesting to study some astro-sociological aspects.
