Years ago when I was receiving my education in Varanasi, I used to

visit three temples. There was the temple within the university

campus, the Sankatmochan Hanuman temple near Lanka and the

Vishwanath temple right in the heart of Varanasi 'downtown'. The

surroundings of and approaching areas to these three were:

beautiful/quiet, kind of shabby/reasonably quiet. crowded/narrow/one

always walked with hand on pocket/noisy -- respectively. One of

these always gave me the best spiritual feeling. Take a guess which

one!

It was a good training for me to be able to exclude noise and

irrelevant chatting and to focus on the central message! Just

because so many things are served in front of you does not mean you

need to eat everything or be distracted by dishes which are of no

interest or benefit to you! :-)
