Without polemics, without too many words, minced or otherwise, and

preferably your own (!) -- let us take a poll of how members have

individually learned/are learning astrology.

Classics

Books by earlier modern writers (earlier than 1980)

Books by later modern writers (after 1980)

Magazine Articles

Correspondence or similar courses

Web articles

Newsgroups

Software/databases

Other sources

<a score can be used to mark each of these>

0-unimportant, 1- slightly, 2-moderately, 3-very important

And answer some or all of the following questions:

=How long have you been studying jyotish (theory)?

=How long have you been studying charts, seriously?

=What was the first source amongst the above that you picked up?

=Which were the most helpful in the long run?

=When did classics (translations acceptable) enter your learning?

=What are you missing most in classics, modern writings (no examples

with author names necessary)

OTHER comments (BRIEF please)

Astrologers/writers seem to be under some kind of pressure to come

across as infalliable, all knowing. The fact is no one is perfect

and they should start saying it more confidently and maybe it will

take some pressure away and let them focus more on the chart as an

experiment, an experience. Doctors do that all the time, they do not

know everything or when a patient will die, the better ones remain

curious, don't know it all and stay open to more learning. Something

all astrologers must emulate...
