Do stereotypes really hold up in open-eyed astrological experience?

Stereotypes are prevalent in human perceptions:

Indians are natural mathematicians (I know thousands with problems in

that area - yours truly leading the pack perhaps)

Italians are emotionally labile

Frenchmen are the best lovers

Blacks take to dancing naturally -- they have the rhythm (probably

more likely to have long fingers than the dance trait! If you do not

believe me, go test a sample!)

Similar stereotypic misinformation/generalizations about other

cultures, religions, nationalities and in India (when I grew up there)

about different classes, regions etc.)

Like the sociological stereotypes, we have astrological stereotypes --

we see examples of that in messages all over the place, recently and

going all the way to early 80s when net-astrology began for me!

Western, Eastern, Chinese, Burmese, Kabbalistic -- you name it!

I am not surprised because the same human mind that created the

societal stereotypies is also studying and describing the universe in

astrological categories, in astrological language and terminology!

This is not something bad or unreal but must be taken into account and

kept in mind when we categorize!

The knife cuts. It cuts vegetables, it cuts bread, it scoops up

butter, it cuts diseased parts, it maimes and KILLS! The Intention,

the ONE holding the tool determines the purpose of the ACTION and

outcome!

Same about astology and astro-categorization. He who holds the knife

and not the outcome that determines the intention!

Now just because I am perceived as a pest by some, don't assume that I

have mars rising or something!

Dear Rohiniji ,

You have said that Stereotypes are prevalent in human perceptions. I agree .

They may be correct , they may be incorrect , they may be out of tune with

the time but we have to see why the stereotypes formed in the first place .

These came from perceptions , and for smoke to be there there must have been

some fire . Stereotyping helps in chunking of the information . For example

take the description of the Sun . In a visual form you will see the whole

picture and hold it in mind for a longer duration .

Of course I agree that stereotyping cannot be taken too far . Why should I

assume you have mars rising , I would say you have saturn afflicted <g> .

Intially learning techniques right from child hood develop through

stereotypism.Astrology can in no way be excpetion.That is how some skills become

too monatonous as they lack any value addition.while not discounting the

importance of stereotypes,we need also "venture" and veer around may be as in

like hippies and get away from stereos.This adds to fresh relook and also direct

experience to have an insight.Astrology as of now making efforts to get away

from the stereo typism and getting semi modern outfits and thoughts.This

transformation is also getting advanced with the aid and help of internet and

palm top cultures.From classicals and the gurukul and from sruti-sravan to ultra

technics the cultures as well as conventional wisdom too are undergoing

transformation.today youth know why they r getting troubled and how they can

find remedies.let's cheer the young ones and salute the old wigs who are able to
