Guest guest
Namaste I checked out the info on this Ayanamsha on <www.occultwizard.com>: "There have been few astrologers who have tried to give the exact date of Niryana and the Sayana zodiacs coincidences for example Lahiri gave 22 march 0285. That's mean in the year 285 AD when the Ayanamsha was zero. Same Fagan gave 1 January 0221 of coincidences. Tarun Chopra Gave the date of coincidences of two Zodiacs was 1 January 1155. Now if we calculate the horoscopes at the given years with Tropical Ayanamsha and with sidereal Ayanamsha we should get the exact planetary positions. If we calculate this with Lahiri we find that there was a difference in tropical and lahiri's as on 22 mar 0285 planets were same and but there was a minute difference in Saturn degrees, Jupiter degrees and moon degrees. In the same way we tried to calculate all other horoscopes with all Ayanamsha we saw some minute differences it was just a difference of seconds but a second difference means that it was not the time when these two zodiacs were same." It seems to me (and correct me if I'm wrong) that fixing the date/time of the Niryana & Sayana zodiac coincidence is by definition setting the difference of plantetary positions between the 2 zodiacs to be 0 at that date/time. Then the Ayanamasha for any given date is calcuated based on this. If that is the case then to choose a particular Ayanamsha on your computer program in order to calculate the planetary positions for the date/time of coincidence that the Ayanamsha was based on and find there to be a difference between the positions on the 2 zodiacs on this date would only show that the calculations/formulas the program used were not perfect. This would tell us nothing at all about the validity of the Ayanamsha. Anyway, if the difference between the 2 zodiacs increase at a rate of 50.2719 seconds per year then the difference in seconds between the Tarun Chopra Ayanamsha and the Lahiri Ayanamsha would be 50.2719 times the difference in years between the set date/time of coincidence for each. Based on the dates referenced above, this works out to be about 12 degrees difference between the two (the Tarun Chopra Ayanamsha being based on a later fixed date of coincidence would be the lesser of the 2 Ayanamshas) Take it easy, Sean , Tatvamasi <om_tatsat_om wrote: > > > > Chi.Tarun, > > I would like to give your Ayanamsha Values a try. > Can you please let me know difference in degrees, > Minutes and seconds between your's and Lahiris? > I am using JHora software.I can just feed the > difference and the chart is generated with your values > which you must be knowing. > I will work with your values and give you my feedback. > > Rgds > > Tatvam-Asi > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Perhaps I may end up regretting that I opened my mouth/computer and responded to this! Ayanamsha has been the biggest dilemma and most mysterious 'variable' in my experience of jyotish that goes back a few years. Divine sources have been quoted, astronomical factors have been quoted, experiential/retro-corroborations have been utilized for proving this or that and the other ayanamsha. Even more variables and flavours have been introduced by the use of parallax-corrected moon for use in calculating dashas, and so on. The annual rate of precision is NOT a constant and varies over time - - and can become a significant variable if your testbed for a given ayanamsha spans a long period of birth years. Conducting research entirely unbiased, with single and double blinds, one is looking at several ayanamsha value, each with several annual rates of precision, at least two positions of moon, geocentric and geotopical, a variety of dashas some demonstrated to work, others experimental and many more variables. At one point, when I was following the western tropical scene (not practising it) the situation had gotten quite flummoxing given the thousands of asteroids and mid-points thrown into the mix. Many moved to Jyotish at that time but soon discovered that "variety is the spice of life" here too, and the spices though tasty when you eat them, have after-effects! Let me leave it at that. Unless my experience has been unique (I doubt!) if you choose to pursue astrology, you will experience these variations, claims and ebbs and tides. Even when you find the perfect ayanamsha that seems to explain everything to the dot, ask the basic question: Is human destiny as predictable as a clockwork motor? If the answer is 'YES!' you are fortunate, at least in the short run! If the answer is 'NO!' or even "maybe" I strongly suggest that you keep looking but be mindful of and open to each claim of perfection that you run into and test it. Who knows ... With each clear demonstration of proof supporting any claim forthcoming, if you were to be so lucky, look deep into the example and see if there are alternative explanations. More often than not there would be, and time being your biggest enemy hopefully you would find the time to scour the evidence, in a thorough manner. Be mindful that there could be, also, moments when you would suddenly find that you have hit "gold". It is a lot of work and make sure that you or somebody has really done it!
