Dear all,

Whenever I fast for a particular deity I wonder what is the correct

way to fast. Can any one shed light on what is the actual procedure to

fast.

1) What should not be consumed during this time of fasting. Can we

drink water, juice, tea,coffee .

2) which is ideal time to wake up in the morning and other procedures

to do during this time.

I generally fast on Friday and saturday and everytime I wonder what is

correct way to do it.

Thank you in advance for information

With regards

Sunitha

Dear Sunita,

there are many kind of fast ,depending on one's sharddha ( wish &

respect ) , one can remain on air for the day...called nirjaala

varta, only on water .. sajaala varta, only on fruits... phalahaar

varta..., one time eating...etc etc

this u can know through the respective varta - kathnaak (procedure

to keep fast book)

one should wake up at brahma-muhurut...4 AM or at sun-rise...

the most important thing is that one must not hurt anybody either by

doing , speaking or thinking

thanks
