reading of kota srinivas (Attention Arjun Saheb)

Hello Arjun Saheb,

Hope you have been good all this while.

I have a query as regards the following thread.

Before I come to the point, I would like to reiterate

the background: I am very concerned about my spritual

enhancement, and owing to this, I devote at least one

and a half to two hours for my pooja. I have never

eaten non-veg food even after living in North America

for almost five years. I take all possible measures to

ensure that I don't deviate off the spritual course.

However, one thing weighs heavily on my mind---my

janau has not been done as yet. I hail from a good

North Indian Brahmin family, and my Baba (Grand

Father) was a very spritual man. He was very adept at

all vedic mantras, rituals and pooja, and would often

devote around five hours everyday without fail for his

pooja. But my parents, including my mother, were just

not spritually inclined. My dad was a very senior

government technocrat, he did not know even the basics

of vedic pooja. He was not averse to worshipping

though. However, he never organized or did any formal

pooja proactively or out of his own accord.

In my brothers' cases, they had their janau done one

day before their marriages. But in my case, since it

was a love marriage (I married to a jain girl), my

janau was not even done even during the time of the

marriage.

My question is to what extent janau is important in

one's spritual journey? I have also been told that

janau is a very elaborate affair, and that while

performing janau one has to feed people of several

villages. Now, living in Canada, I just don't know how

to get the janau done. My moorings with my native

place is also not so strong.

Your advice on this matter would be greatly

appreciate.
