Guest guest
Dear Tanvir and forum friends, The positive for me personally that came out of this episode was that well-wishers and friends have shared honestly their perception that I tend to come across as 'sarcastic' and I believe have been perceived as inflicting 'barbs'. Strangely -- none of this had anything to do with my use of the word 'fellow' but it allowed people to express their discomfort in the past. I was sincerely not aware that sometimes my teasing nature (and it only comes out amongst those who are my cyberfriends and in a sense cybercommunity where I live and work. I am not at all a stodgy and egoistic or formal person (I hate being a stuffed shirt actually!) and had no idea that what I considered as informal jest which I would happily take from others too and have in the past without feeling hurt or throwing a tantrum was causing pain. Srinivas ji's email brought that to me very clearly. I wish he had expressed this earlier. I do get irritated, I am human, when I sense and see that people are talking casually about astrology or are being phony and through asking reading requests in a certain tone. But, if I have caused pain, to those whom I have given advice astrologically, due to what was perceived as sarcasm by them - - I sincerely apologize for that, because I respect their perception. I cut my cyberteeth in 80s and early 90s in fora which were very informal and with nearly no people from Indian or Asian origins. My cyberpersona developed in that environment which was extremely informal, and open. In contrast many of the modern jyotish forums are very formal and we address others with the formality that I too grew up in in India with decades ago. Okay, no more informal chit chat for me. People are sensitive and like their distance and so I will try hard and regain my veneer of politeness and formality and distance. And since there will still be people from time to time who shall try to provoke me, I will have to be extra cautious, reserved and careful with them and try to avoid them even when they provoke. I realize now that this is a very different cyberrealm now. Thanks to all friends and supporters for all they have given me and once more apologies for any pain I caused, whether intentionally or not! Guest guest
Respected Rohiniji, My sincere apologies to you by delaying to bring to your attn the displeasure (so called ,but not in reality) caused to me at that time. The reason for the delay or altogether dropping for expressing any displeasure of your behaviour is ,that I found myself lacking in abilities the correct perception of understanding the personalities in proper perspective, which the same i understood lateron with your well intentioned advise(blessings is the correct word),through which i not only benefitted but also the fact that while understanding the people it should not be based on just by the words/expressions on their face but also along with it one has to take into consideration the intentions . I truly enjoyed your erudite writings on astrology and also (as rightly said by Sri Tanvirji ) helped me to dispel the wrong notions and helped be to understand basics of astrology in right perspective.I too started to take interest in studying vedic astrology about and year ago and read and benefitted from your writings.Though i'm still a child in this science ,but seek very kindly your contributions/guidance through fora like these. Once again asking for your apologies and seeking your blessings. srinivas Rohini (Crystal Pages)" <rrgb wrote: Dear Tanvir and forum friends, The positive for me personally that came out of this episode was that well-wishers and friends have shared honestly their perception that I tend to come across as 'sarcastic' and I believe have been perceived as inflicting 'barbs'. Guest guest
Dear Sir, After the first impression one gets, what comes across is your good intentions. Since I have become a member of this group, it is only recently you have started writing on a daily basis. And I am really enjoying your mails. Only sometimes I wish I had more grasp on the English language (to understand your mails completely) and hopefully I will be able to improve by reading more literary works. (btw, I didn't know the names you compared venus and jupiter with) Sometimes I used to think why you dont answer the simple question that one has asked, but instead ask the person to find out something. But I assume that people who know more, also know the next step. And when my knowledge will increase, so will my vision. Guest guest
Divyaji, I write on and for several forums and also one has to make sure there is tomorrow :-) hence I may show up intermittently. However, there is such a wealth of contribution in a variety of astrology and divination related fields that in each forum there will always be plenty of gems to enjoy for the readers. This is such a great progress over what existed 10-15 years ago. We all are so fortunate. Sometime so called 'simple' questions are much better described and illustrated in commonly available texts that yet another commentary on the mailing list is perhaps not necessary. Also, in my experience, when people/students make an effort to search in several places, weigh different opinions, etc they learn and remember better. Also based on what I have seen in the email mailing list format, even simple things can cause confusion because in most of the email responses things are not or cannot be explained entirely. This sometimes confuses even people with some experience and familiarity of the topic. It is much better to read an article or book which has been more carefully written with more time given to it and also reviewed and edited several times. This is my reason for preferring that a sincere querent not rely entirely on the output on forums. The forums are really for filling in the gaps, things that articles and books miss or did not intend to cover, special areas, as well as for reporting work in progress because of the speed of publication of this medium. Forums are also most important for exchanging birthdata and research findings, although for one reason or another, many researchers are reluctant to bring their research to light through forums and open, unoderated mailing lists. I was referring to the mythological reference to the Asuraguru Shukracharya (venus) and Devaguru Brihaspati (Jupiter), essentially the icons leading the darkside and the bright side of human nature as also portrayed in the Starwars series by Obi Wan Kenobi and Darth Vadar. Guest guest
Krishnan dada, But that is not going to change readily -- the half-baked nature of questions and even answers. There is a massive growth swirl, a tornado that is enveloping jyotish and those who resist it as well as those who swirl with it -- neither are safe. As in the body, when growth is maximum, many cells are produced at the same time but there is also increased death of cells at the same time and if we assume (and pray for) that to be the model for modern jyotish, then eventually what will emerge will be a stronger product, for having not just withstood the storm but perhaps being shaped due to it. I remain hopeful. Sometimes I shall resist and at other times I shall flow with it for I am not emancipated enough like some to just observe it and witness it unattachedly, at least in body :-) Blessings welcome! Guest guest
Dear Rohini Ji When I said you are sarcastic sometimes then I did not want to express any discomfort about it. Rather I have said that your sarcasms are pointed to some unusual or not-so-sensible behaviour of people. So I have no problems with it. Please try not to misunderstand me! I would said earlier if I had any problems. I think most of the people are fine with the way you express yourself. There is no need to change your writing mode to a formal one (As I feel so) - it is fine ; however only some members like Kishore Ji might prefer a formal interaction, that is merely what I was saying. Guest guest
Tanvir, Just to clear the air. I was not at all distressed or offended by your candid and level-headed assessment and recapitulation of the situation. No ill-feeling here with you or anyone on this forum, actually. Like I mentioned to someone recently: We are all ships passing each other in this vast ocean. There is lots of room and no one should feel threatened or crowded :-) I shall be careful!
