dear mallikarjuna rao garu,

i agree that with experience, lagna of the native,

dasa running, nakshatra etc can be predicted on just

seeing the person. It is also true that one should not

enter into practice of ksudra mantras without proper

help from a powerful siddha guru.

i respect the views of learned members on this topic.

But personally i feel that one who is deep into vedic

astrology will step into mantra sadhana, either to

propitiate grahas( a daivagna is supposed to be

"grahayajana patuscha" i.e adept in rituals relating

to the planets, necessarily involving mantras)or to

gain intuitive power. Late sri BV Raman and many

stalwarts in astrology are of the opinion that

practise of a mantra is a must for an astrologer to

gain intuition. It is also my experience that a unified

approach using palmistry, omens, physiognomy etc will

minimise the errors in prediction. For example, while

doing prasna vidhana, the best help we recieve is from

nimittas(omens).These omens invariably happen while

doing prasna,if one practises a mantra. I have

observed them a lot of times and they never go wrong

whereas our interpretation of a chart may go wrong

very easily, due to many factors which all you know

very well. So i feel, why not take the help from all

possible sources? After all, astrology is not mere

mathematics. All the ancient rishis who are founding

fathers of vedic jyotish were mantra drashtas.

i also agree that predictive power is not uniformly

present in an astrologer throughout his life. The great

Cheiro himself lost his accurate predictive power in

later years, when he lost the amulet tied by Kasi

pandits to his arm. It is precisely for this reason,

mantra siddhi is a must for an astrologer.

regards,

satya.

i thank you for your suggestion not to reveal much in

public forums about tantra and mantra. it is true.
