Guest guest
Dear ALL Both east and west recognise that we are all made up of five basic elemets these are earth, water, fire, air and ether. In vedic astrology the five elements play a crucial role in understanding the vedic chart for both natal and especially the electional(choosing an appropriate time for an event) astrology. These five elements are described below a) Day-Vara-this is ruled by fire element b) Half a Day- Karana-ruled by earth element c) Tithi-lunar phase for a day ruled by water element d) Star or Nakshatra-ruled by the air element e) Yoga-union of sun and moon-ruled by ether or SKY. The day shows the longevity as it is the fire element The karana shows the accomplishment as it is the earth element the Tithi shows the prosperity as it is the water element the Yoga shows bonding as it is the ether element the Star shows the past actions effecting the present moment as shown by air element. For different purposes different elements become important. It is difficult to get all the five elements perfect for an occassion. If one doesnot want to be in a company for a long time, then the day is not relevant for joining. For marriage purposes day lord is very important, as it shows the longevity of the marriage. Accomplishment is very important for projects , thus earth element lord is very important there, he is should be well placed in the vedic chart when the project is started. There are 7 days, 15 tithis+1(New Moon), 11 karanas, 27 nakshatras, 27 yogas. Each of them is lorded by a planet and he governs that part of the element. More examples later. Guest guest
If only there were global harmonization in Divination, for there surely is not in science! Was reading a book on chinese medicine the other day and surprised to see that their elements were different from the Indian concept and included wood and metal. China with its equally ancient culture and powerful techniques of the spiritual realm cannot be ignored, just as North America and the rest of the developed world is coming to grips with the power of numbers (of consumers or potential consumers) in India and China! Two spiritual and material giants!! Guest guest
Dear Krishnan To ignore Panchang is to ignore the fundamentals. The fundamentals can never be ignored. Panchanga is widely used in Muhurtas, that is electional astrology. When i am joining a new job, if the Day lord and Karana lord are well placed from lagna, then i will stay long and get some good achievements also. This was discussed in detail in vedic astrology group. The panchanga is also used in Tithi Pravesha Chakra a very popular technique to time events for a year.
