There are differing opinions on this, but many astrologers feel that any benefic, even if it rules bad houses, can and should be strengthened. Jupiter's strength can also increase the benefits associated with 8th and 11th houses (legacies, shared wealth, income, opportunities). By my understanding, it is not advisable to wear the gem of a malefic like Rahu, so, unless it seems to be helping, you may want to consider removing it. Sun in 10th is excellent for professional success and accomplishment. 10th lord is 10 houses away in its strongest house, so that should be helpful for 10th matters, as well. You also have an exalted lagna lord which is excellent for recognition and a strong sense of identity. As for other remedies, you could strengthen your Moon, who is in the 8th house, by wearing pearl or moonstone, and your lagna lord Venus, who is closely conjunct malefic Mars, by wearing diamond or white sapphire. Mantras or yagyas for these planets can be helpful, too. Specifically, it should be good for status, public life, popularity and recognition. While as 4th lord, there could be acquisition of home, vehicles, academic degrees and luxuries. I was referring to planetary yagyas for Jupiter, Moon or Venus as being helpful. I'm not very familiar with the other types of yagya. The pukhraj sounds more than sufficient in size. The expected effects of wearing Rahu's gem make sense, but there is a general belief that wearing the gem of a malefic when it is not lagna lord, dasa lord or bhukti lord is potentially more harmful than helpful. But, like I noted before, if it seems to be helping, than keep wearing it. The right hand little finger is recommended for wearing pearl, so there's no conflict with the pukhraj.
