i also used to echo similar views expressed by you earlier, but with experience

would give a slight moderation.

 

these days astrologers have become like doctors. Many families maintain a

family physician and they approach for any and every problem of all the members

in their family to that physician only. Earlier some rich families used to have

a family guru to guide them spiritually. Likewise these days people would like

to hire the services of one astrologer for knowing the future of their family

members and also suggest remedies. they pay good dakshina for this. Some

doctors do charity service in temples, mosques, gurudwaras while some doctors

charge nominal consultancy fees. some superspeciality hospitals charge

thousands of rupees in fees and charge lakhs and millions of rupees for

remedies. Similarly you would find astrologers loitering on the roads begging

passersby to have their reading for 5 rupees, and small astrologers charge 101

rupees. Famous astrologers like P.Khurana charge Rs.21,000 (you can check this

fee amount in his site astroindia.com). You and me besides several

eminent astrologers are giving free advices and suggestion of simple, cheap yet

efficacious remedies in the group. There is no wrong in taking fees as it is

individual decision and the persons paying such huge amounts are giving with

their right hands willingly. I too offer free service and do not reject any

dakshina given to me, yet i do not criticse other astrologers charging huge

sums. at the same time, i repeated on various occasions in this group that onus

is on the person visiting an astrologer to pay a dakshina because there is a

proverb "jo khaali hath aayega woh khaali hath jaayega". I publicly praised

Mark even though he is charging money because the wealth of knowledge shared by

him freely would definitely benefit the receipients.

 

I have a personal policy or rule not to criticise my fraternity because we agree

to disagree and each person has his own uninimitable style.

 

Even for your criticism on the books, i hold the same view. people with little

knowledge have written books and have earnt millions for which we shall not find

fault with them. on the part of buyers and readers who are interested in

astrology, instead of going for simple short cut tailormade, subject specific,

house specific, planet specific, yoga specific books, why peole are not buying

original sanskrit samhitas or sastras? Is it because they run into several tomes

and volumes and are in thousands of pages and are costly.

 

Anyway just thought of expressing my views that even though i share similar

thoughts of yours, we shall not criticise others.

Really,when people come to me(with some fancy to Astrology) i tell them that

Astrology as a tool to know future is extreemly benificial if one has faith and

ready to accept that fate,destiny(if bad) can always be imroved and madebetter

if only we have some honesty and sincerity..

and make them spend huge amount on fradulent remedies"

What I feel at this point is all of us really think in terms of scope of

astrology and make the needy people understand that their fate is nothing but

their own making.This should be made to realise.

Probably Mark Kincaid in one of his recent write up mentioned about"Vedic

Pasychology".Probably this interdisciplinary approach if taken up conscetiously

would serve humanity lot.
