Guest guest
Hi all We have had been studying, understanding anf relying on the concept of nine planets for our astrological and other inferences. Does the discovery of tenth planet make any difference in terms of astrological calculations? thanks and regards vineet __ Start your day with - make it your home page http://www./r/hs
Guest guest
Dear Vineet, For judging the effects of any heavenly body on human life, at a thousand years' of study is needed. Today, we find pluto, uranus and neptune included in the astrological planets. But, their existence in human knowledge being very short, their long periods in one sign and their discoveries being still one or two centuries old only, they should not be included in astrological studies. Lots of beating about the bush goes on in the name of these planets. Similarily, you will find this new planet also catching the imagination (imagination only, no facts) of western astrologers. Nine planets are sufficient to analyse anyone's horoscope. Out of these nine, four are not really planets (astronomically). Jyotish studies only those planets which can be seen with naked eyes. There are other calculations like gulika, etc, which can help in finer analysis. Ashutosh - vineet sharma Monday, August 01, 2005 16:52 Discovery of Tenth Planet_impact on astrology ?? Guest guest
Vineet, Since jyotish takes into account not just planets but stars (sun), satellites (moon), points of crossing of orbits (nodes) and mathematical or temporal points (upagrahas), while western astrology also takes into account midpoints (jyotish also does something similar with its padas, sahams, bhavat bhavam considerations) and asteroids, adding one or few more factors is not going to rock the boat sufficiently. Case in point being jyotishis generally not using the transsaturnine planets (let alone the 10th planet!). You will hear all kinds of arguments in favour or against being 'all inclusive'. Many assume but do not really know or can explain if the astrological planets are different from astronomical planets although the latter are used for physical reference. Theories such as gravitation, invisible rays and subtle energies emanating from heavenly bodies causing the astrological effects etc are all conjectural. Hence we cannot assume that any new discovery in the visible heavens necessarily will have an astrological impact. And yet if you want to include the influence and test and report if they have an influence in our craft, that would be great. It is one huge big uncharted body of waters and no one surely knows what can be the ultimate impact of these. Happy hunting!
