Guest guest
Dear Mark Your thoughts on how remedial measures has brought me to a long standing confusion in my mind & I thought that I should post it. We often say that astrology is not a fatalistic science and that It gives us a insight into our future such that we can then take remedial mesures to avoid or mitigate the negative things that might happen. Then on the other hand many authors give examples of peoples horoscopes in theirr books & show how each & every aspect of life can be explained through astrology. See my confusion? Nilay.... Dear Nilay: You bring up a very important and significant question re. Jyotish&Astrology. First of all I'd like to say, this question speaks to the very heart of Astrology and life. We know today, that there's something called destiny. We can call it karma, or as you sow, so shall you reap. Modern scientists even believe in it, though they call it the Science of Genetics. In other words, there's much about people's live's that seems to be traceable back to a bunch of 'conditionings', whether it's red hair like our Grandfather, to a fiery disposition like Aunt Hilda. In Westerners, we don't take assume then that there's no freedom or freedom of choice. It's the way we're wired I think. But as a result of our 'belief' we seem to be able to take much better advantage for self-transformation, in this life. There's this saying in America which says: "any young person can grow up to be President." In other words, the potential is often for all. So, let's agree that there's freedom and conditionings. Unfortunately, for most our 'conditionings' rule us. But, your examples of the live's of great saints and seers, is a good example for us. Their live's of deep inner awakening has an effect to 'change' the normal flow of their karmas. Take meditation, for example. It's become very popular nowadays, and with this great inner technique we're finding that many physical and mental problems can be solved. Though it may be said that even this possiblity of expansion of consciousness may be in the Stars, as well. I'll tell you a story that might help give insight into this deep issue. When I was in India in 1988, one of the Vedic Scholars, there, was asked by the Jyotishees. "We're confused. Many of the people who are meditating, are not following their charts?" "What do you mean?" The Pundit said. "In the past whenever we've done people's Charts, we could predict exactly what would happen. Whether they were 10, 30 or 60 we could predict what subjects in school they would do. We could also predict what kinds of careers they'd enter. Also, how many children and what they'd look like. But, your meditators, they're not following their charts?" "This is because they've learned to change their stars!" I've thought about this story for many years, now, since then, and now, I realize that freedom and conditionings go together;.....in life, as in Astrology. Normally, for most people, we do seem to not only go thorugh predictable events, but we are, body type and physical characteristics, are very much like our charts. However, there is an area within, the deeper we go at illuminating and unfolding our inner awareness, where conditionings of no kind exist! Then, the more we develop this inner consciousness, the more life become's more free of stresses, mental conditionings, and even 'fate'. In the future we'll realize, I believe, that freedom and conditionings both, exist. But, because it's been very difficult to imagine how both of these, completely opposite qualities could co-exist, then people generally line up for believing in fate, or conditionings. But as you said, if life has a freedom aspect to it, how can predictions be made? And viceversa, if predictions can be made, then how can freedom exist? We might consider that freedom, and conditionings, exist simultaneously on a scale. At the deepest level of the mind, and of life, exists, eternal freedom, unbounded awareness, the living presence of the Self, of the Universe. All, human beings then, have that inner essence as the most inner quality of our beings. However, most of us, don't know that inner light or being. Therefore we're more 'relative', and are as if, bound up in the relative realities, including predicatable conditionings. But, as we awaken to this inner possibility of life, that that one area that knows no conditionings, then, our life begins to exhibit the unmistakable signs of growing freedom. In modern science, which has been saying for decades, that life has a very powerful predictable element to it; recently, in the area of quantum physics, it has been discovered, that the most subtle aspect of relative existence is dominated by 'uncertainties'. You many have heard of the Heisenberg Uncertainty principle. It says in essence, that no atom can be ultimately predicted, in either it's speed or position. This 'uncertainty' principle has had a powerful influence upon modern science, though for most situations and aspects of life and science, regular 'conditionings' continue to dominate. Finally, in terms of being able to change the malefics in our charts, this may be due to the possibility of finding more and more freedom, in life; or in may be just part of the relative, possibilities, of the conditional life. To, me, this is not as important as realizing that our chart's malefics, are not just symbolic of our problems, and challenges, but..... they're also symbolic of our possibilities for growth, tranformation and change. Nice talking with you. Sincerely, Mark Kincaid And finally, you said: Also another aspect is that when somebody takes remidial measures to minimise the negative effects isnt he diverting from the life path that the horoscope shows & then how will we be able to asertain the nature of his life when looking back at it. If it's possible to use remedial measures to improve our lives.. Either it's also in the nature of life, to make such changes, or it's in life's possibilities, to grow beyond, the negative influences of our past. Jai Guru! Then on the other hand many authors give examples of peoples horoscopes in thier books & show how each & every aspect of life can be explained through astrology. OK I agree in case of normal people it is fine but I have seen some authors explaining the lives of people like paramhamsa yogananda, ramkrishna paramhamsa etc through thier horoscopes. How can we explain the lives of such people through thier horoscopes (specially the later parts) when they are already spritually enlightened enough to trace a course of life on free will. How can we see through horoscope when a yogi will decide to take samadhi or are we clubbing samadhi & death in case of astrology. Also another aspect is that when somebody takes remidial measures to minimise the negative effects isnt he diverting from the life path that the horoscope shows & then how will we be able to asertain the nature of his life when looking back at it. I hope someone can clear this confusion of mine. regards Nilay --- Mark Kincaid <m.kincaid wrote: > Become Your Own Best > Astrologer! > > > > A friend of mine mentioned to me the other day, that > it's recently > been projected that the "4th most in-demand, job, in > the future, will > be Astrologers." > > I laughed when I heard that.
