Guest guest
Full Potential of Jyotish & In Life..... Article 2 Jyotish Course: Introduction... "The Nature of Life is To Grow" There's a very important need in Jyotish to understand the overall Goal and Purpose of Astrology as well as our own individual charts. According to all Vedic Science the Goal and purpose of life, is the growth and final attainment of perfection or enlightenment. Jyotish helps us find ourselves somewhere along that path towards perfection. In fact, Jyotish defines each Planet's position in our birth chart, as being somewhere along that path or sequence of perfection. Jyotish has this concept of the relative strength or weakness of a planet being expressed by whether it's in it's Own Sign, a friendly sign, debilitated or Exalted. Planet's that are in their Signs of Exaltation, represent the end product, or 'perfection' of their nature. For example, right now, the Sun's in it's Sign of Exaltation, Aries, and so during this whole month, individuals being born now, will express this very laudable quality of Exaltedness, at least in terms of their Suns. Take then, the Moon's Exaltation, Mercury's, Mars and Jupiter's too, and you get the idea. As we evolve, grow and get better and better, what happens is that the internal dynamics of our planets also, improve. When I was in India in 1988, where I got introduced to Jyotish, for the first time, I heard a famous Vedic scholar who said: "Don't take your charts, seriously like they were written in stone. They just represent the state of your Physiology, at birth." I've thought a lot about this expression over the years in my subsequent study of Jyotish. Now, I realize that our planets do represent our hearts and minds, Psychology as well as Physiology. And, their relative beginning strengths, or weaknesses, due to their Sign, House, or relative placement do represent the relative strength, and/or development of each one of those aspects of ourselves. For example, if our Moon was strong, more of a full Moon, or in it's Own Sign, or Exalted, then our Emotional nature could be termed mature, or well developed. Recently modern science came out with the emotional equivalent to the intellectual idea of IQ or intellectual intelligence. They call it EQ, or emotional quotient to try and determine the emotional maturity and development of an individual. This range of emotional maturity and development is perfectly describable by the Moon's, in our charts. Likewise, our Intellectual maturity and development is characteristic of the state of strength of our Mercury's, in our charts. For Spiritual matters, we look to our Jupiter's. For physical prowess, coordination and athleticism, we look to our Mars. For 'stability' in general as well as wisdom, Maturity and how 'in-tune' we are with the Universe, we look to our Saturns. For our lovingness, how appreciative and affectionate we are we look to our Venus. All together, our human stage of evolution along this path of life, and perfection, is perfectly understandable in the Jyotish system of looking at all of the Human parts or Astrological configurations. In conclusion, we now can see that the growing improvement and even attaining perfection, or Exaltation of each planet is the inherent goal and purpose of our lives. Therefore as we learn how to improve the nature of each of our Planet's then, we will find the inherent characteristics of each of those aspects of ourselves, will also improve. Think of all the Planets like muscle groups, on the body of a world class athlete. Some of the muscle groups are naturally strong, while others, need to be strengthened and improved for maximum success and performance. Like that, each of our Planets, refers to an aspect of our human body and mind, which are indicative of all the components of our 'human' nature. As we improve each of these planets it's like we're learning how to strengthen one of our, muscle groups. The result will be that we learn to perform better. We become more successful in life, because we learn how to develop ourselves, more profoundly. Individual Charts Also Express Life's Purpsoe... There's another way of understanding our live's purpose and goals and that is to look at the particular's of each one of our charts. Not only do our chart's express where we're beginning in this vast range of evolution, but, our chart's also express the unique individual path that we're already on and living. So, as we come to understand this path, of our chart's, then we can better understand the pluses and minuses of our lives, and the many conflicts and challenges that are often times the most difficult to understand. Our Goal, in life, though it's to walk this path of increasing perfection, is, also, to learn the lessons and challenges of each one of the details of our chart. Our chart's then, are the expression of the unique path that is the nature of each one of us. As we do this, we realize how to live the truest meaning of our live's and can in fact, learn how to resolve many conflicts, which are really self-made, even before they become dramas on the outside. Someday, we'll be able to teach our children, how to face the weaknesses, and malefics in their charts, much earlier, say within the years of their education, so that by the time they begin their adulthood and move into careers, and family life; they'll have learned how to become the 'best' that they can be, even before they have to face their 'demons' outside. In the Jyotish course, we've recently started, we'll continue this discussion regarding the overall goals of Jyotish and Vedic Science and how they're echoed in all the details of our individual charts. We'll examine how closely are we aligned with the Signs, of Perfection or Enlightenment already and especially which planets are our greatest obstacles. Also, we'll discover how the malefics in our charts have such an important symbolism and meaning for us, and themselves, actually represents the real focus and purposes of our lives. Living the Benefics, of our chart's, generally is not a problem. We can learn how to better utilize our natural strengths, but, it's those pesky malefics that have been the greatest thorns in the side of our Jyotish as well as life. Generally, in the past, it has been thought that it was very difficult to change, to improve oneself, so the hope and even the theory of Malefic improvement was very weak. Now, however, we've entered into a time, where the Philosophy of remedies of Jyotish and Vedic Science, are now beginning to be more profoundly believed. 50 years ago, now, meditation, for example began to be taught in a completely new and unprecedented way. Where before, meditation was taught in terms of concentration and control, then, it began to be thought of in terms of naturalness and ease and no effort. Since this time, the whole Philosophy and practice of Meditation, has been turned on it's head. This one experience has completely changed how millions of people think of themselves in terms of self-improvement. Now, people believe and experience that self-improvement is more easy and in fact, natural and a very natural and important part of life. Without this fundamental insight, hard work, great difficulties, and especially 'fate' were thought to be the norm. Previously, it was thought that our live's were predominately ruled by this 'fate'. Within the confines of our chart's there was very little that we could do to change that. When I first stared studying Jyotish, 'every' book that you'd pick up would have say, 195 pages about the Jyotish, and then, at the end, as if tacked on, without really much thought, would be 5 pages on the remedial measures. Now, that percentage is changeing! Where it used to be 95/5%, now it's becoming more like 60/40, and even 50/50. It may be in fact, only necessary to spend 20, or 30 % of one's time understanding one's chart and Jyotish, issues, and then, focus the predominately on all the areas of one's self-improvement! Because of my background in the power, and rejuvenative qualities of this 'new' meditation experience, I innocently just assumed that growth, and improvement would be the 'norm' of Jyotish as well. As a result, I saw that the malefics in our charts, not only represented our challenges, problems and lessons; but, I, also, understand that these same malefics, actually represented our opportunities, and the very aspects of our self, that we are supposed to change. So, if someone has a weak Sun in their charts, this doesn't have to be thought of as a life-long curse. In fact, one can learn to practice many of the natural Sun, self-improvement strategies that will have an immediate effect of improving one's Sun and therefore self-confidence. Take the Moon, too. Often it's described if one has a small, or maleifcally challenged, Moon, that one will face emotional issues all of one's life. Now, however, with the advent of the growing awareness that it's possible to grow and improve oneself, it shouldn't be surprised that our Moon's, too can be improved. This has been the greatest fortune and result of this new avenue of Jyotish for myself. Having Moon with Saturn in my 12th house, emotional issues, shyness, lack of self-confidence, being self-conscious, etc. were just some of the many emotional calamities that I faced, growing up. But I didn't know that you weren't supposed to be able to improve oneself, so I didn't know that you shouldn't be looking for a real, solution. Therefore, I innocently looked for that, and any solution, and as a result, the possibility and realities of meditation, fell into my lap. >From the very first time, I learned to meditate, immediately I felt better, emotionally. And, with each subsequent meditation, each one building on the other, more and more power of mind, as well as sophisticated emotional maturity, even intuition improved as a result of this growth of Consciousness. After about 18 years of meditating, then I got into Jyotish. Then, my 'evolution' within all the calamities of my malefics, really began to take off. Some have said that: "Knowledge is the greatest purifier!", which I always felt a little confusing. Having grown up within the culture of meditation, I always assumed that meditation and the growth of Consciousness, would be the 'greatest purifier'. But, when I started studying Jyotish, immediately I experienced an amazing shift, and startling realization that it was indeed possible to improve any and every aspect of one's life, simply by coming to a better Understanding as to one's Planets! In other words, theres' an inherent knowledge and Wisdom within each Planet, that can be understood. This experience, now, has catapulted me into this new field of Enlightenment or Consciousness Jyotish. Now, when you reflect on your chart, don't just think of your chart, and life as being eternally dominated by positives and strengths, weaknesses or malefics. Now, begin to conceive that your strengths, are your 'rock', and the malefics, are actually, the areas of your opportunities, and the literal areas in which you're meant to grow. As you grow within the wisdom of each of the Planets, (though they may have started out 'functioning' malefically), with each step of growing wisdom you will find more and more positive experiences of the truer, benefic nature and possibility of each planet! Understanding the Wisdom of each of these Planets, is the first step, then, and in addition, some of the great techniques of Ayurved, for example, can also be added. Ayurved understands the inherent balance and imbalances of the Physiology. With a simple feeling of the pulse, one's body 'doshas', as they're called, can be felt. Then prescriptions are given to bring the Physiology, back into balance. Also, unique techniques also exist in Ayurved how to change any frustrating habit or thought or physical pattern that may be causing us our grief. For example if one is addicted to certain kinds of foods, or behaviors, Ayurved has a regimen of strategies as to how to change those habits. We'll be exploring these in some depth during the course, presently beginning. Today, we're entering such an exciting and promising stage of human evolution, and Jyotish can help champion the way with it's amazing ability to understand the problems sooooo accurately. Now, that Jyotish is expanding it's reasonings to include Jyotish Transformation, the entire field of Jyotish will be complete and able to help any and every human being with the inherent conflicts within. Nice talking with you all. Sincerely, Mark Kincaid ps.... During this first month of my course, we will study the inherent Wisdom and Grace, the Full Potential, if you would, of literally each Planet in our Astrology. This will serve as a great basis for the future Planetary transformations that will follow. Anyone still interested in joining this course, there's still time to join.
