I saw you message on JR on chanting rudram.

 

 

 

Ordinary method is to chant Rudram followed by chamakam.

 

Then there is "Rudra ekadasini" where after chanting rudram first anuvaka of

chamakam is chanted followed by rudram and then the second anuvaka of chamakam

and so on.

 

 

 

11 such rudra ekadasini rudram make one Laghu rudram.

 

11 such Laghu rudram make one Maha rudram and 11 such maha rudram make 1 athi

rudram.

 

 

 

As such rudram and chamakam are chanted togethter. Chamakam lists out all the

things which we get when we chant Rudram. It forms the "phalasruthi of rudram.

 

 

 

The "mrytynjaya mantra" coming towards the tail end of rudram is very important

and can be chanted separately also.
