Benefits of Astrology

 

 

 

Most people come to have their Astrology, asking primarily 3 questions. What

is my life purpose? How

can I make more money? And, finally, when am I going to find the girl, or

man of my dreams?

 

Though the 'relationship' question is asked last, in truth it's probably

more important! hehe.

 

For others, in addition to having their chart's done, by others, those who

are also involved in

personally studying their own Astrology's, there are a number of very

concrete benefits.

 

For both categories,....

 

The primary benefit of Astrology is Self-Knowledge.

 

Whether we mostly are going to Astrologers or studying ourselves; the main

thing that goes

on when we're exposed to Astrology, is the benefit of Self-Wisdom.

 

The Greek Oracle at Delphi said it best when she said: "Know Thyself".

 

All of our Western civilization, in essence has developed based on this one

idea of self-knowledge.

 

Plato too echoed this great vision of Self-Wisdom.

 

Heck, even the Oracle lady in the movie the Matrix, told Neo to "Know

Thyself"!

as the first step in his quest to be the Hero!

 

Our education system in the World today, is intrinsically based on this

ancient principle of self-Knowledge.

 

Astrology is the best system I've ever discovered at delivering this

fulfillment of knowing one Self.

 

All Philosophies, Religions, even popular self-improvement groups, all,

espouse to this ideal of self-Wisdom.

 

However, unless any of these methods of self-development, touch on the

intrinsic, Astrological Nature, of

each one of our live's; then, those methods will be inaccurate or off-base.

 

In the Jyotish book, I'm writing I've devoted a few chapters to this theme.

I even compare Astrology to such

important religions like Christianity and Hinduism. Though it's not to say

that good Astrology will 'ever'

replace the importance of our religious traditions.

 

However, unless our lives are supplemented by very keen, precise, and

accurate Astrological Wisdom, then, our

lives may suffer due to an intrinsic, lack of clear perception as to who we

are.

 

The truth is that each one of us has a very specific, and unique

Astrological blue-print, that speaks to the exact,

qualities of our lives, and exactly how important it is to live those

uniquenesses.

 

Jyotish, or Eastern Astrology, especially, has the most amazing ability to

shine the 'light' of Awareness on,

who we are. This is the most profound Astrological benefit of having your

chart's read, and even studying

your chart.

 

Next time, you find yourself studying any of the specific aspects of your

chart, remember this fact, that the

very activity of self-enquiry, is itself, one of the greatest benefits of

Astrology.

 

Samuel Jackson, a famous actor said recently in one of his movies: actually

it was his character in the hit

movie Unbreakable, who said:

 

 

"Do you know what the scariest thing is?

To not know your place in this World.

Not know why you're here.

That's just an awful feeling.

I almost gave up hope.

There were so many times I questioned myself.

But, finally I found you!

(and here, instead of putting Bruce Willis, who represented the hero

of the movie, I'll put,...

Astrology!

 

I found, you, Astrology....!)

 

So, many sacrifices, just to find you.

Now I know, I'm not a mistake,

It all makes sense!"

 

 

 

 

This is exactly what happens every step of the way, as we discover our

natural, self-existing Astrological nature.

 

We have the greatest chance, to discover what our human drama is really all

about. The unique perspective

of Jyotish, is that each person's mission in life, is completely special.

 

It's amazing to me, that our charts, can change so dramatically, within even

5 or 10 minutes of each other.

 

Twins, have very similar Astrology's, but all you have to do with twins, is

investigate into some of the more abstract,

and detailed divisional charts, to bring out those special differences,

between even twins.

 

This article is about articulating the primary Benefits of Astrology.

 

Next time, when you are having your next reading and or, studying your

chart, keep these ideas in mind,

and you'll find even more powerful positive effects from 'doing' your

Astrology.

 

 

#1 Self-Knowledge is the key to all self-improvement in life. As we know

ourselves better, we automatically,

by being more in-tune with ourselves, do better. When we understand better

who we are, we spontaneously,

make clearer, more insightful decisions, and even choose better paths for

ourselves.

 

The old expression, "Ignorance is Bliss", is completely untrue!

 

In truth, Wisdom is pure Bliss! Unfortunately, there's not been enough of

that, to show people the way,

to the true bliss and happiness in life.

 

All Success, in fact, depends upon how in-tune we are with our own,

Astrological natures.

 

Those who are, even accidentally, or unconsciously, are, found being more

successful, in life.

 

Looking at the charts of successful, famous, or leaders in our World, today,

I'm always struck by

how often these people's charts have the best of the Astrological ideas,

whether it's planets within

their Own Signs, or Exalted, or both!

 

As it turns out these people have very developed Charts, and are able to be

successful, in spite of their

lack of clarity as to exactly why.

 

For the rest of us, 99% of the people in the World, in fact, success is very

hit and miss.

 

This is because the essential, most important characteristic of

self-knowledge is not gained as we grow up

in this World.

 

We are not, educated, so far, in the realities of our Astrology.

 

As a result, we flounder around. Our choices, our decisions, are weak, hit

and miss, and it's not surprising,

that we spend so much wasted efforts at pursuing our goals and dreams.

 

We spend all our life, through experimentation trying to figure out who and

what we are.

 

By the time we've tried to figure this out, we've spent 10, 15, and even 20

years and even then, there are

no guarantees, that we'll then, succeed.

 

Imagine if we could have learned our Astrology in our earliest formative

years, between say 8 and 15.

 

Imagine if we could have been inspired, all about ourselves, first.

 

Our lives would now, be extremely different.

 

Therefore.....

 

The #1 thing that's needed is Self-Knowledge.

 

This is why gaining the insight, and clarity of our Selves, via. our

Astrology is so important. With every wave

of self-wisdom, every aspect of our live's improve. We're naturally more

'centered' and since we know ourselves,

better, we automatically start off with a greater footing to pursue and

fulfill the goals, aspirations and dreams

that are our lives.

 

 

#2 Astrology also has the most ingenious detailed wisdom as to how

understand all the details and various,

different aspects of our lives.

 

The knowledge of the various Houses, and Dasas & Transits, all, go to such

specific 'genius' really, at helping

us understand not only 'who' we are, but exactly what areas of the life,

we're meant to focus on.

 

Though some may feel there is some sort of charm at trying to figure out for

ourselves, what our life purpose is; however, believe, me, if I had been

presented earlier, exactly, what I was meant to evolve into, I would have

saved myself decades of strife.

 

Common education, today, try's to help people discover who they are by

presenting a broad 'spattering'

of all the various possibilities in life.

 

We call it a 'Liberal Arts' Education. However, it's completely hit and

miss, and is extremely weak, divided

in it's focus and wastes much of the teacher's time and student's.

 

Imagine if you could first spend the first few years, discovering who you

are through your Astrology.

 

Then, you could automatically shift into the fast track of your chosen

field.

 

It's all there, in our Astrology. We just have to pick it up, and use it.

 

Some of us are beginning to do this, and as a result, life, in our World, is

going to be permanently changed!,

and improved.

 

We are the pioneers of this vast and significant knowledge.

 

Each one of us, that does 'this' through our own Astrology's, vastly begins

this process of self-renewal.

 

As we do this, we can't help but have a powerful and lasting impression on

all those who are coming after us.

 

Our World has the greatest chance of real self-Wisdom, if we can help others

learn this great knowledge

and true science.

 

 

The way the second point of Jyotish works, is through a very specific

appreciation of the various unique

aspects of our charts. In other words, as we focus on the specifics of

'our' charts, we not only gain, self-

knowledge but we also gain the wisdom of 'particulars' which again is

extremely powerful and unique.

 

For example, some have planets in their 10th house, while others the 4th

house.

 

In addition to these two people's charts, giving intrinsic understanding as

to who these individuals are,

the special details of the different houses, and the lessons and dramas,

contained, therein, bring also

very unique and special insight into the details of each of our charts, that

also self-empowering.

 

I have a close friend of mine, who had 4 planets in her 10th house in her

birth chart. However, due to

other circumstances, in her chart, she got married, early, and spent almost

all of her adult life, in the

more traditional role of wife, and mother, only.

 

All of those years she felt completely unfulfilled, because the wisdom of

her 10th house planets were

not brought to her awareness.

 

If she and her family had understood that she was meant to be both, a

mother, wife, and a career woman;

then, she would have lived a much more fulfilling, and certainly much less

stressed, and grief filled life!

 

 

I'll finish by giving some of other wonderful examples of both points; #1

and 2.

 

 

#1 Benefit of Astrology is through providing Self-Knowledge.

 

 

I'll use just one chart of one of my students. This 'friend' of mine, has a

chart like most others. He has

his strengths and his weaknesses, but not growing up, in understanding this

significance meant that he

lived a life of much struggle and futility, that a simple awareness of

Astrology could have literally changed!

 

These facts are essentially true for most people!

 

In my friends case, I'll call him Tom: His strengths are primarily his Sun

in Cancer, and his Moon with

Jupiter in his chart. As a result he's a very giving and nourishing

individual and very spiritual. His Jupiter

is also in Scorpio, so he's a real genius at research and going deep into

the nature of many subjects like

engineering though of course, he was not lead to these insights until much

later in life.

 

Though even now, he's so wrapped up in the struggles and malefics in his

chart, that he's not even close

to living that life that he was meant to live.

 

The weaknesses of his chart, (which are those pesky malefics!), include,

Mercury and Saturn in the same house.

 

This represents tension between the all important Saturn and his Mercury's

Intellectual nature. As a result

he makes many rash and unwise choices just because he can't see clearly, due

to Saturn's negative presence.

 

He also has Mars in the 7th which represented a very angry young person, and

three marriages, later, he's

still struggling with much unhappiness due to the unfinished quality of that

aspect of his chart.

 

In a more ideal world, Tom would have learned his chart early. He would

have gained an insight into his self

that only Astrology seems capable of giving.

 

This self-wisdom, would have had the greatest chance at helping him 'grasp'

the real, complete,

purpose of his life.

 

He could have spent his early life, discovering subjects in line with the

real nature of his chart.

He would have especially learned where his weaknesses reside, and how

specifically to strengthen those

malefic areas, first from inside, and then, not to have to face them

without!

 

In addition to the general benefit of learning more about himself, through

his chart,

the 2nd benefit, or ability, really, of Astrology, to gain specific wisdom

as to the various aspects of his chart,

could also have saved him much time and struggle.

 

If he had been my child, I would have taught him about anger, very early.

Anger represents misunderstood,

'resentment' in most cases. Because people believe that life, or

especially, people, (depending upon where

there Mars is), should be doing something different, then what they're

doing.. Or, that they have been

unjustly acted upon. As a result they feel unjustly confused, and anger

results.

 

When one understands the knowledge of karma, and as you sow so shall you

reap,

you get a chance to dissipate that completely useless quality of malefic

Mars, which was also Kuja dosha, in

his chart, because of it's position, aspecting his 7th house of marriage and

partnerships.

 

I would have also taught him about how to get more in-tune with his Saturn,

and learning how to turn his

Saturn into it's more balanced and benefic side, he would have learned the

very thing he needed to improve

all of his decision makings, or his Mercury.

 

I would also have helped him see his tremendous spiritual opportunities.

Both his Jupiter and Moon are in

his 9th house, and there have been some great spiritual advantages due to

this.

 

I would have emphasized his strengths, while helping him understand his

malefics.

 

 

Such is the vision of 'possibilities' for us, through our Astrology...

 

Not only Self-Knowledge and Wisdom, but,...also very practical and detailed

appreciation and understanding

as to the specific areas of our lives, we were born to focus on.

 

>From the General to the specific, great Astrology has it all!
