Guest guest
Hello Roshni Katyayani Mahamaye means the following: The Endless, Truth, Consciousness (Sat-Chit-Ananda) is Shiva. Absolute power and creativity is contained within the Truth. When the same is expressed it is called SHAKTI. The entire nature as we see it, including thoughts, mind matter, and all the ignorance (as "seen" in deep sleep) is nothing but Shakti. It appears to be different from Shiva or Truth but it is not. Shiva and Shakti (Parvati) are one and same. The one who do not realize the sameness are under a spell of "Maya". The word Maya means "not that". It essentially means that you are living a life full of notions. MAHAMAYE is the ruler of Maya. It is another name for Shakti. As in its expression, IT seems different from its real self. Just as dance seems to be different from the dancer or Cloth seems to be different from the thread. Katyayini Mahamaye is a mantra to realize the Reality as is explained above. Kalyana Vratam is to be observed during Panguni, as Lord Shiva and Ma Parvati were married during this period. Their union signifies the realization of Truth: that Sat-Chit-Anand ONLY IS. On a more mundane level, this great vrata is used for roping in a decent spouse. Panguni is the time when Sun is located in the sign of Pisces and Moon is in the Shukla Paksha.
