Welllll, just happen to have the configuration you asked about...

I have a Libra rising, and Mars in the 10th...and in Cancer...

 

It's a very kind of strange situation because Mars, like you said, is very

strong, in the 10th

house, but,...kind of wimpy and weak in Cancer...

 

I've always felt two very opposite kinds of qualities,...

 

On the one hand I feel this dynamicness, strong, love sports, action movies,

and on and one..

and yet at the other time, I feel this strange kind of

abstract,...compassionate nature...

 

As a young boy, I ignored the more subtle one, and tried to be the other...

Marish, football player, and the like...

 

but whenever it would get down to it, ... I didn't have the 'killer'

instinct, you hear about...

 

Then, I learned Jyotish and discovered,...the rules and ideas assoc. with

Mars/Cancer....

 

Then, the whole thing made sense to me...

 

I liked being Marish,.... I mean, what man doesn't,...and also I realized

it's kind of embarassing,

having this fairly femaleish, or Motherly side to one, in one's house of

career....

 

It wasn't for many years later, especially when I met some strong, virile,

men, who also had strongly developed feminine sides of themselves,

developed....that I realized....

it was okay, to let that softer Cancer part show....

 

Other things I've learned is.... Mars is weak in Cancer, which means often,

that one needs to stand up for oneself more...

 

I realized that too, that I'd allow circumstances esp. if it complicated the

finer, faint, feeling (Cancer) feeling level.... I'd allow

circumstances,....overshadow, me...and what was really right.

 

When I started to practice this art of standing up for myself....I found

things improved emmensely.

 

Finally, since I've realized being 'that' Cancer part of me, doesn't make me

effeminate, I've been a lot happier and more natural in career.

 

I also, invited my Mars to leave that Cancer, part of me,...and venture out

to a more natual Marish environment...

 

Since I've done these two things,....I've been much happier...

ps... oh yes, you asked about career....

 

You have to look at the broader part of my chart to understand career....

(9/4/1951, Libra rising) meant that Jupiter was in my 6th house, and

aspecting the 10th house

I found myself an education and Philosophy major in college, and a teacher,

and teacher of adult education classes, including yoga and meditation for

most of my life...

 

However, whenever I needed to make extra money, I stumbled upon home

remodeling or construction, as a back up to my, what I consider my higher

dharma.

 

Also Mars in Cancer, has contributed to accidents in career,...

I've fallen 3 times, on the job, from scaffoldings and ladders, ....any one

of which could have lost my life... I think Moon/Lord of the 10th, in the

12th with Saturn, didn't help!

 

In fact, probably why my accidents were Saturn, falling accidents vs. car

accidents, or running into things...

Mars debiliated in 10th house

 

 

 

Respected Gurus and friends,

All the texts I have read indicate that the position of Mars in the

10th house of a horoscope is always beneficial to ones career. (i

assume the logic is that in 10th mars gains directional strength).

However if the 10th house say falls in Cancer, where Mars is

debilitated, will it adversely affect one's career/profession ?

Your thoughts please....
