'Transformation' Dear Friends: This is an introduction for our new group called 'changeyourstars'. This is an introduction to the very important field of life-transformation. enjoy, Mark Kincaid Life is continually changeing, for better or for worse. It can't be stopped. We do have a choice, though as to whether we contribute with the flow of life, or not. When we wake up in the morning hardly ever do we say: "I'm going to make a mess of my life, today!" It may turn out that way but that's almost 'never' our conscious goal! Normally, Astrology is mostly thought to be a great system for predicting what our live's will be like. This has been the habit, especially in the Eastern Astrology for many hundreds of years. However, the real nature of existence is growth, through change and yes, even transformation so it's important that we understand that really good Astrology also has to take this important aspect into account, also. So, if our Astrology is not just about our fates, then how and where do we have the opportunity for change and growth, even transformation? In my experience every aspect of our live's or every aspect of our charts, is possible to improve. Jyotish/Astrology already has in place a natural value system. If such and such a planet is in such and such Sign, then, it's in it's Own Sign, or even Exalted. Or, if it's over there, then, weaker, and finally, in it's weakest Sign of debilitation. This natural value system is not there to pre-cast or prejudice us, but, is in fact, there to help us understand the range of possibilities of each and every planet. In addition there are signs which are 'friendly' and those that are called 'enemies' signs. These, too, are trying to help us see the relative states of perfection of each Planet. In my experience, Planets that are Exalted have a tremendous nature of power, grace, and wisdom. Therefore we find ourselves 'using' these positive energies, and probably then, don't need to think of our strengths as really needing to be changed. However, the so-called malefics in our charts, are good candidates for areas within us, that might be able to be improved. In fact I heard a very curious Astrological expression when I was in India during a long visit in 1988. A very well-known, Vedic Scholar said: "Do not take your charts like they're written in stone. They're just the state of Physiology at the time of birth." Over the years this one expression has become more and more important in my Jyotish and my life. If the Planets are not just indicators of our fate, like we're some kinds of robots, but are in fact, indicative of each and every aspect of our nature; then, perhaps, we can change our selves, through changeing and improving our Stars! Think of your Stars, your chart, as just an expression of your very nature. We are both, structure and potential. The areas of our lives that we're improving into are those very one's that are needing improvement. In this new , we're going to assume that 'change' is possible! You may not always 'believe' or trust 'that', but in the beginning we're going to follow the assumption that it is possible. It's the nature of every waking up, moment. We wake up every day with a hope in our hearts and in our minds. "I'm going to have a better day!" The Nature of life is to grow, and growth means change, and change means 'transformation'. Learning how to contribute more fully, in this very natural process, is to me, the real, essential goal of Life,...and of Jyotish & Astrology. Perhaps we just get confused when we discover that Jyotish/Astrology has such a high rate of predictability. For example, when someone can look at our charts, and predict that in May of 2005, we'll receive a nice financial windfall, well, of course, we like that, but then, we start to feel that we're beholden to that 'fate' that is coming, or not. In other words, predictability of our futures or our nature's make us feel bound, predictable, and not free. However, the truth is more all-encompassing then this. There are these aspects of condition, of structure, of predictable nature, but that doesn't negate the possibility of freedom, of choice, and of growth. The modern day science of genetics, is a good example of the natural integration that can exist between nature and opportunity. Modern day geneticsts believe that it's possible to eventually develop a complete mapping system of the entire gene system. However, the reason why they're doing this, is not to then, lie down and accept our fate! No!, the reason is that they're discovered that all our problems in life, pre-dispositions to certain diseases, for example, are due to individual genes that are either defective, or un-developed. Gene therapy then, has this goal in mind, to literally strengthen, or improve the natural function, and area of life, that each gene rules. Think of your Astrology, your chart as your Cosmic, ancient system of genetics. Each Planet expresses the relative strength, or sleeping nature of each and every area of our human life. Astrology has understood, for a very long time, that life can be improved, and it can best be improved by 'utilizing' the tools of Astrology. Okay, lenghthy introduction, but now, let's cover an overview of the exact areas of Transformation that we will be discussing in our new group. If transformation is possible, then, we will want to discover how each and any area of our live's and Astrology can be improved. #1.... There is an intimate, '1to1 Correspondence' between all the details of our Astrology,...and.... all the details of our human life. The Sun's in our charts, represent our very Selves! The Sun represents our self-confidence, our individual initiative, our ego health, or lack of self-confidence and self-esteem. Converesely, the Moon's in our charts, represent our Emotional selves. We 'feel' about ourselves, in direct response to how we 'are' with our Moons! The Moon represents 'feelings', emotions, intuition, and knowingness. The Mercury's in our Charts represent how 'well' we think. How clearly we think, how well our intellects work and function is ruled or expressed by the Mercury's in our charts. The Mars' in our charts represent our physical power. Physical energy, dynamism, ability to 'do', are all the different aspects of Mars. Aggression, firmness, resolution, power, these are some of Mars' many attributes. Saturn represents the balance in our lives. There's a natural coordination between all the systems in our bodies, from the brain, to the heart, lungs, nerves, everything. Saturn rules the relationship, coordination, and integration of this very diverse and complex system. When Saturn is strong, and healthy, then the body, and mind exhibits a profound inner strength. However, if Saturn is weak, or underdeveloped, then health is delicate, balance is easy to be lost and life is tenuous, and fragile. Saturn therefore, is the planet that represents that inner strength. If weak, then, ill-health, problems, disappointments, sufferings, grief and unhappinesses, are the result. However, if Saturn is strong, then, natural fulfillment of desire is the natural consequence. If Saturn is strong, then, one's nature support, one's ability to do the right thing at the right time, is also strong. If Saturn is balanced, then, life is balanced and life flows in a natural and healthy way. This is why Saturn is called the great lesson giver. Because Saturn is such an important planet and vital for living in our World. Jupiter on the other hand is the Planet of Expansion. We rest at night with our Saturn's and then, expand the next day's through our Jupiters. In the future we'll realize that Jupiter & Saturn go hand in hand. With each step, first we plant the one, firmly, solidly, then, we take a step forward. Progress, and expansion, in life, depends upon how firmly we first stepped. Jupiter is also called the Planet of the Guru, and as such is an expression of everything to do with learning, studying, teachers, as well as Gurus, spirituality, and Wisdom in life. Jupiter then is the Planet of Religion, God, and Cosmic Purpose. Rahu and Ketu, then, finish out the Planetary symbolisms. Rahu and Ketu, in one way are really just the natural system of desire, mechanism that we live. For example, how we desire something, how we achieve the natural fulfillment of that desire, is ruled or aspected, influenced by Rahu and Ketu. Therefore, Rahu and Ketu reflect how easy or natural we desire, and fulfill that desire. If Rahu and Ketu are imbalanced or malefic, negative, then, we have desires, and can either be obsessed or compulsive in those desires. Rahu and Ketu, therefore are often looked at for addicitons, and harmful imbalances of power, wealth, fame or accomplishments. However when Rahu/Ketu are more balanced then, one is anchored inside, and the outer, the relative, does not overshadow and is not imbalanced. In our group, we are going to focus on how each malefic situation in Astrology can be improved. In our practical life, if we have a bad habit, we intrinsically understand that we're meant to change it. It may be difficult but we 'know' we're supposed to learn how to change! Jyotish/Astrology is really, all about that 'transformation'. The 'malefics' or malefic situations in our charts, are not just symbolic of our problems, challenges and unhappinesses. They're also symbolic of the very things that we were born to improve, through change and tranformation! Learning how to do this, is the very heart of 'good' Astrology. Step #1,.... find the malefic Planet or Planetary configuration that's responsible for, or reflective of the negative, in your life. Anyone who would like, write a list of things that you wish were different, or improved, in your life. These could be financial situations, health conditions, or relationship realities. Aspects of career, family life, or spiritual concerns. This could be wealth, health, love, God, or career. Every aspect of life is there in our charts. Know that any and every aspect of life, can be improved! Whatever aspect of life, that you wish were different... Write it down.... and then, let's find the Astrological configuration that corresponds with that 'thing'! Step #2,....once we've discovered what Planet or Planetary configuration is 'reflective' of the thing we want to improve,...then, let's figure out how we can strengthen and improve that Planet! This is the key to Jyotish/Astrology or life, improvement. The Planets in us, are really like power switches, that can be improved. Once they're improved they send an immediate wave of performance out into the body, mind and environment of greater energy, naturalness, and power. Learning how to be more in-tune with life, through the power and technology of Jyotish/Astrology is a great blessing and a great opportunity. I look forward to having this continual experience with you all!
