Do retrograde planets aspect

Hi all,

I was wondering about the retrograde planets. Do retrograde planets

make aspects in the reverse direction?

For example, I have retrograde Saturn in Taurus in 10th. Instead of

Saturn making 3rd house aspect to Cancer 12th which holds my Ketu,is

it actually making a 3rd house aspect to Pisces 8th house? Instead

of Saturn making 10th house aspect to Aquarius 7th house that

contains Moon and Mars, is it actually making a 10th house aspect to

Leo 1st house?

Hi,

Thanks for the link.

It didn't answer my question about Saturn making reverse aspects or

not

I read that retrograde Saturn covers the house before

So my retrograde Saturn in Taurus in 10th

so acts like Saturn in 9th too

So Saturn in 9th aspects the 3rd house which holds my Sun,Mercury, and

Venus

but does Saturn in 9th aspect the 7th house which holds my Moon and

Mars or does it aspect the 11th house in regards to 3rd house aspect?

Does Saturn in 9th aspect the 12th house which holds my Ketu or does

it aspect 6th house house which holds my Rahu in regards to 10th

house aspect?

Hi,

Another thing that I noticed is that the article said that Rahu and

Ketu are always retrograde. That means that the mean nodes are being

used. The true nodes can go in direct motion. Therefore true nodes

aren't being used for Rahu and Ketu.

That means that I really have Ketu in Pushya(owned by Saturn) in 4th

quarter instead of Ketu in Ashlesha(owned by Mercury) in 1st

quarter.....if I use the mean nodes with the thinking that Rahu and

Ketu are always retrograde.

Dear Raymond,

Retrogression of planets means retracing the old path.

Rahu and Ketu are relative position of Sun, Moon,& Earth.

Rahu and ketu are moving in reverse direction always, but not

retrograding.

Moon and Sun are moving in forward direction and never retrograding.

Other planets can move backwards[appearance] and again forward.

Moving backwards they are said to be retrograde.

Aspects backward in not considered. But if you consider, what does

it prove? In astrology so many things are explained in so many

different ways that you are never sure of what you

observed/concluded is due to a single reason/configration.

Hi Raymond.

As far as I know, retrograde planets are always powerful in nature

and produce either very powerful or very unusual results (good or

bad) in different signs of the zodiac. Some of the classical South

Indian texts always refer to retrograde ("Vakra") planets as being

powerful, because the retrograde motion makes the planet move faster

(and some believe that the planet gets "younger" ) and attains

youth. The motional strenghth("Chesta") becomes higher. In some

unusual cases, a retrograde saturn may give success to an individual

at a very young age, although Saturn is traditionally known for

giving success after a long struggle and strife. Personally I don't

believe that a retrograde planet aspects "backwards". Aspects as far

as I know are always in a forward direction (of course Rahu and Ketu

are always retrograde). Another motion to also consider is when a

planet is stationary and about to go direct (or retrograde). At this

particular point, the planet becomes extremely powerful. Hope this

helps

Thanks.

Dear all,

I too personally have wondered about planetary aspects(graha drishti)

while they are retrograde. During my studies about

this subject, I have not come across any classical text clearly

mentioning that retro aspects are reversely counted. But I

have seen clear dicta from many classical texts mentioning that

planetary aspects are counted from the POSITION of planets.

In Sanskrit there are dicta like ".....Swaat trikoNam..

(Guru) ", "...Sthaanat paSyanti dyoonam (usual aspect)",

"Kujasya VaapyaShTakam...(For mars - vaapi(4), ashta(8))"....etc

which prove, BHAVAS and RASHIS receive aspects from the

very 'position' of a planet and NOT from its movement.

To be precise, a retrograde planet shows tendency to be in previous

rashi rather than its position, so the aspects TEND to be in

preceeding rashi/bhava accordingly. For example, Saturn direct in

Gemini, aspects Leo, Saggitarius and Pisces fully.

When he is retrograde in Gemini, his tendency is to be in TAURUS and

hence, if at all his aspects TEND to change, then

they must be in CANCER, SCORPIO and AQUARIUS! and NOT pisces,

saggitarius, virgo counting reversely!

So, my humble opinion is that retro planet's aspects tend to move

backward by a house and that aspects are always counted

in Natural ascending bhava order from the POSITION(Sthiti) of a

planet and its movement(Gati) has no effect on aspects.

yours
