Guest guest
The other day I had a very interesting discussion with a colleague. I was in Delhi and I was sharing with him my interest in astrology and palmistry and how certain things in palmistry I can predict with impeccable accuracy. We discussed Murali Manohar Joshi's proposal to teach Vedic Astrology in university. I personally think astrology is a science lost to time, and a lot of mumbo jumbo has come about because of incorrect application and interpretation, especially through newspaper columns. Why cannot astrology and plamistry - foreboding and forecasting theories - be taught as art forms in university, like we have psychology and meterology - both of which can go horribly wrong. Even the US, which condemns homeopathy - there was serial on National Geographic which concluded that homeopathy is placebo effect - even the US has courses in paranormal sciences. So why shouldn't India? I believe Joshi did get it right, but unfortunately used coercion instead of persuasion to get astrology to the university. Had he tried my argument, he would have certainly taken these arts/sciences to the university level, giving it legitimacy in the minds of the rationalists. Please do send in you valuable comments. Guest guest
Hello Bob ji, Is it a retrospective thought of the recognition accorded to Jyotish in Indian universities?Eminent personalities including Gurus like Justice kapoor and k.n.Rao have burnt their energies to get this stautus of a teaching sublect. The case ultimately was decided in courts. Even before phalit jyotish as part of of vedic sciences was being taught in sanskrit universities in India.Even they have built mini jantar-mantar(observatories) for bringing out the cosmic effects of planets on men and matters. Even myself as a participant was there in an Astrological Conference in the year 2001. krishnan Bob Singh <rayseth2001 wrote: The other day I had a very interesting discussion with a colleague. Guest guest
Dear Mr. Krishnan, It is not an retrospective thought. I was very happy to hear that MMJ had proposed this. In fact I have had such thoughts ever since I was 10-12 years old. However, the methods he used later were not effective. Without wanting to sound proud, I do get such insights quite regularly: for example, I had thought of rain-water harvesting at age 11. I have always wondered why electric powered cars cannot be made mandatory. Wonder why computer companies cannot come up with a solution to prevent illegal duplication of CD? May be its Ketu in 12th House :-) Do hope we can meet. Where are you based sir?
