How to find Ista Devta from the chart - in total Confusion

Hello Sir,

 

Could you tell me the method how to find ista devta.

In one method which I heard, is seeing in which sign your atmakara is

in navamsa, and taking the twelfth house from that. The Planet which

is in that house becomes Istadevta. In my case this comes out to be

Ketu, and hence Ganpati as my Ista Devta.

 

Please comment on this, as this creates lots of confusion, to add to

this, some jyothish even commented Shiva as my Ista Devta.

Hi,

You are absolutely right. Ista Devta is known by

12th from Karakamsa (The sign occupied by the

Atmakaraka in Navamsa is called Karakamsa). There is

other method as well, wherein 12th from Arudha lagna

(For example, if lagnesha occupies putra bhava, one

must count five houses from lagna to putra. Then,

starting in putra, count an additional five houses.

Arrive in the 9th house, dharma bhava. Dharma bhava

is the arudha lagna) is seen. 12th house denotes

moksha, hence all spiritual attainments are seen from

this house.
