Guest guest
Dear All, SUB: Mantras-initiation-Guru-his qualities Our friend looks like deeply disappointed one after a long time search for true Guru; so sad..! I do agree that now a days BABAs, GURUs, SWAMIJIs, self-declared PANDITs are deteriorating the religious or cultural atmosphere with their money making techniques or motto of 'being in news'. But that does not mean that there are no CAPABLE GURUs for initiating or guiding a person with right knowledge, let it be Mantra, Tantra, Yantra or Yoga. Really Capable Gurus never boast nor campaign but live by themselves in a corner, sometimes may be like street jugglers too! For a LOUKIKA(materialistic man), they look like mad men or beggers or semi-cracks. Though not always, sometimes IT is their identity!! for they know that the knowledge they have gained is seldom understood by others and keep away from all. Coming to Brahmanism, our friend has rightly observed the 'santcity' of it maintained in South India. But I don't think that a non-veg, alcoholic and flirt can not be a GURU; YES sometimes, it is an activity of the Guru to keep away from all! The famous GURU parampara with Dattatreya as ADI-GURU from where all others descended, clearly describes the characteristics of a Guru and his acts to keep away from all(Ref: DATTA-CHARITAM). But Brahmanism has not been described as Vegetarianism, neither as non-alcoholic nor as bachelor-life. BRAAHMANA = BRAHMAANAM JAANATI(or GACCHATI) ITI ie he one who KNOWS or Practises BRAHMAA, the Supreme knowledge. To be frank, for a real Brahmana who knows Brahma, there is no descrimination as veg - non-veg, water - alcohol, Truth - lie etc.. WHAT BINDS A BRAHMIN TO HIS PRACTICES IS 'DHARMA', which has some rules and regulations. What all our friend observed is deteriorating DHARMA and not the knowledge. Real Guru still exists; but can not be found by easy chair methods. Critics are welcome! yours humbly, KAD
Guest guest
Dear Kad ji and all, pranam. >Real Guru still exists; but can not be found by easy chair >methods. I agree fully, there surely exist Gurus and Sadhus, but they are very rare! If we are serious and honest in the heart, then the paramatma, which is in everyone's heart, will guide to find a true Guru. If there is no sadhu or guru the supreme Lord Himself appears and manifests as a Guru. In the Vedic scriptures the Lord had promised this and I personally don't see why this should not happen. We have to be humble and cry for the help of the Lord, like helpless children and believe it or not the Lord you beg for help, will be merciful. No matter which form of God you worship :Siva, Krishna, Narayana, Rama, Radharani, Laxmi, Durga etc. will guide us. >Coming to Brahmanism, our friend has rightly observed the 'santcity' >of it maintained in South India. But I don't think >that a non-veg, alcoholic and flirt can not be a GURU; A Brahmin should develop sattvic qualities and stay away from meat, alcohol, drugs etc. The true knowledge of Brahman can not be obtained merely by mental speculation, intelligence etc. but only with a pure sattvic mind and consciousness. To understand and realize the teaching of Vedanta, Siddhanta and others shastric scriptures we have to live humble and sattvic.
