Hari OM,

Try to chant (one of) those:

*Om Namaha Narayanaya*

*Om Namaha Sivaya*

*Hare Krsna - Hare Krishna - Krishna Krishna - Hare Hare

Hare Rama - Hare Rama - Rama Rama - Hare Hare*

*OM TRYAMBAKKAM YAJAMAHE

SUGANDHIM PUSTIVARDHANAM

URVAROOKAMEVA BANDANAAN

MRITYORMOKSHEEYA MAAMRITAAT*

Mantra for peaceful life:

*Sarveshaam Svaastir Bhavatu

Sarveshaam Shaantir Bhavatu,

Sarveshaam Poornam Bhavatu

Sarveshaam Mangalam Bhavatu

Om Shanti, Shanti Shanteeh*

But mantras alone without sattvic lifestyle, tapasya (renouncement),

devotion to God will not give peace in life. Real peace comes once

we liberate from karma and the three gunas and our enemies, such as

physical longing (ka'ma), anger (krodha), avarice (lobha), vanity

(mada), blind fascination (moha), and jealously (ma'tsarya). The

eight fetters (bondages) are hatred (ghrn'a), apprehension

(shaunka), fear (bhaya), shyness (lajja'), hypocrisy (jugupsa'),

pride of ancestry (kula), vanity of culture (shiila), egotism (mana)

By self-realization we can achieve peace. Below I copy a very nice

text.

om shanti, shanti, shanti!

All the best,

Shad

>>>

Man has to be unselfish if he wants peace in the world. Remove

selfishness and egoism. Calm the passions. Purify the heart. Analyze

your thoughts. Scrutinize your motives. Cleanse the dross of

impurity.

Realize God. All this you will obtain as direct reaction to self-

knowledge. That much is certain. Man's passions have to be calmed or

else he remains a brute.

Passions lead to anger and excitement. There is culture when passions

have been stilled. What is culture? Is it not discipline? How

can you have it when passions are free? Next, you are to analyze your

thoughts, scrutinize your motives and thus cleanse the dross of

impurity, That is realizing God Himself. Purity is the aim.

Passions must go and instead of them what we need today is the

light of reason. And so we are to think and reason, until wisdom

dawns, and the abstract God becomes a reality to all of us. This is

the wisdom of Satguru Deva Babaji, who initiated Lahiri Mahasaya,

who in turn, passed on the knowledge to Sri Yuketswarji and who

verily bestowed all his spiritual wealth on Sri Yoganandaji, whose

body remained with no decomposition whatsoever for three weeks

and created a sensation not only in the Western Hemisphere but the

world over."

Desires lead to expectations and ownerships. Those lead to successes

and failures and pleasure and pain and more desires and the cycle

repeats itself.

OWMMMM desire-ayaha, vasanayaha vanishai swa also vanishai swahah!

Works for some (caveat: it is not sanskrit!).

Another one, seriously, also worked in many (hindi):

Maa budhdhi dey, har bhranti ley

Maa shakti dey, har klanti ley

Maa bhakti dey, maa shanti dey maa mukti dey!
