Generally, I have noticed suffering during Rahu Dasa. Additionally, I have read that Rahu Bukti is geenerally painful irrespective of the Dasa lord, though I have not verified this. There are exceptions of course - My cousin has Rahu in Kataka, unaspected, and Chandra Uccha in Vrishaba. Rahu may give some perplexing, confusing, and complex happenings but these will be painfull or joyfull will depend upon position/aspect etc of/on Rahu in the chart.
