Guest guest
*** Shad ji, > I heard the first deity in Jaganat Puri was Sri Narisimhadev > and later Sri Jagannath. I read about this in a book review in The Hindu. They chant a 32-syllabled Narasimha Mantra, and the Mantra I mentioned contains 32 syllables. BTW, there are 32 Brahma Vidyas. In one Janma, one can't fully master even one. However, chanting the Narasimha Anushtup Mantra is equivalent to learning all of them. The Pooorva Tippani Narasimha Upanishad says that Vishnu first came to Brahma in the form of Narasimha, and then gave him this Mantra, with which Brahma created the world. All Vedic mantras can be countered with another vedic mantra. But this is the sole exception, and nothing can stop it. While creating any Yantra, the said Yantra is supposed to be powerless without this Mantra. I don't now what it means - maybe, this has to also be carved on a Yantra to make it work. *** Sreelatha ji, > Wonderful posting, Mr. Balaji! Thank you! > I too, recite this mantram, as part of the Mantra > Raja Pada Stotram. And I too, worship this holy Protector with joy - > his anger is towards my enemies (my many internal enemies like kaama krodha etc.) and his immense strength protects me from evil. Yes, it is immensely powerful. I'm happy that you chant it in spite of the fact that you are a woman. I have never believed that some mantras are not for women. I think that, all of us are atmas, and an atma is beyond gender. Still, if one needs to be puristic - it is said that only the Purusha is masucline, and all created beings - including Brahma - are feminine. The Skanda Purana says that Vishnu is the Purusha, and thus, from Brahma downwards, if all of us are feminine, none of us can recite any Mantra meant solely for men! ===== Balaji Narasimhan * http://www.sherlock-holmes.com/balaji.htm Author, Sherlock Holmes: Solutions from the Sussex Downs Editor, The Partial Art of Detection =====
