It talks only about planets in houses - Stuff like "If Surya is

in the 8th..." etc. I don't consider this to be my favourite

book, but it is a quick "ready reckoner." Also, the version I

have has very good details on the significations of the houses.

However, I don't like looking blindly at things like "Chandra in

8th" or stuff like that, because, one forgets the lordships of

the houses ruled by the grahas. Surya in 8th as lord of Lagna

could mean something, while Surya in 8th as lord of 8th means

something else entirely!

You could be right. With my chart reading and SBC reading, I'm

*reasonably* certain that it is genuine. However, as you say,

one can never know. For all you know, Veerappan is possibly in

Sri Lanka in disguise, laughing his head off at police officials

claiming that they nailed him successfully! :-)

I'm reading a library copy of Shri CG Rajan's translation of

Jataka Satyacharyam. Seems interesting. Can you tell me if there

are good, reliable translations of Sage Satyacharya's works in

English? I would love to buy something. Satyacharya seems very

consise, and his "Pancha Siddanta" gives a very methodical way

of analyzing a chart. I think that it is better to anyday

consider "Lord of the 4th bhava in the 5th" as opposed to "Kuja

in the 5th." The former will lead to far reliable results.

Dear Balaji,

As far as I know, Sage Satyacharya's SATYA-JATAKAM is good wrt his

typical principles.

Even Dhruva-nadi is said to be written by him but becomes a dictum

file rather than his principles.

If you are looking for satyacharya's principles, PLEASE DON'T MISS

the beautiful way of LONGEVITY calculation adopted.

It is also used in BJHS of Mihira, as he says he derives but differs

from Satyacharya.

(There may be plus or minus in many versions now but I read it in an

old version)

I peeped into that method when working with a mathematics professor -

turned astrologer Prof.X, who came out with

mathematical analysis and timing of marriage and death of any person!

(7th and 8th bhavas)

Looking at astrology in Satyacharya's way may make us see Stepleton

from Hugo Baskerville :-) !

yours,

KAD
