I'm currently reading Satyachariar's Jataka Satyachariyam, translated by Shri CG Ranjan. This book looks at a slightly different way of looking at Nakshatra Lord, Rasi Lord, Navamsa, Lord, etc. Am still learning! I earlier tried the pure "theory" approach, and this did not help. I know that there are no shortcuts, and even to become an apprentice in Jyotish takes years. But I'm patient. I propose to slowly read, and then keep applying what I have read, to the best of my ability, in the charts I'm analyzing. This theory-practical approach, I feel, will help me in the long run. IMHO, the Net gives us the following: * Groups like this one, where one can meet learned members, who help us in our quest. * Downloadable e-books which, while not highly reliable, give us a "feel" of a particular topic. Of course, one needs to go back to the real, off-line world to do anything serious! But, read offline (I mean, real paperback books by experienced authors) and apply offline - that is "seamless integration" for you, as the techies would put it! Thanks for your advice. I will look into Vimshopak in the near future. BTW, I had posted a small messange on Bija Sputa some time back. Have you seen it? Please give me your thoughts, this is the first time I have done something in this area! BTW, nice to know that you know French. I studied it a loooooong time ago. I consider cyber-realm and internet (and its precursors) a big blessing in my life. Without that, I would never have experienced real jyotish. Only when the reality of real, ordinary nativities electrocutes one's parrot-like innocence, does the logical mind begins to question something as mysterious and shrouded in mystery cave of wisdom, known as astrology! It made me become aware of my own and other people's pitfalls, traps and hurdles which continue to keep one humble in the big scheme of things. However, it is a trecherous teacher. You snooze you lose! Having bitten a few times, I consider it my duty to warn my brethren (and sistren) about the worst-case scenario. The beauty of jyotish is, once you decide to flow with it and not treat it as physics or engineering or other exact sciences -- since no technique or factor by itself is important, and strong effects influences are always shown by nature in charts either strongly or in a redundant manner, even if one does not apply or use all techniques, they do not necessarily miss out or make mistakes. Not more than what kaliyugi jyotishis are destined to make. As do scientists and similar others, for that matter! The problem I have with mainstream expression if not inner thinking about jyotish is this: Everyone starts with the assumption that it is perfect, it is 100% accurate etc., rather than exploring it without preconceived expectations and notions and working towards perfection, just as a child does, crawl-sit-walk-run-fine-tune-practice-practice- practice-olympic gold medalist!
