I too look at Navamsa, but Sashtiamsa, I have heard that if the time if not very accurate, it could give wrong results. So, I avoid this. Shad bala is useful. I particularly like the Ishta Phala/Kashta Pala figures, because it gives a quick snapshot of huw helpful a graha is. I'm not surprised that Vimshopak is not used much - it is too confusing! Just imagine, if my Math teacher told me, "Balaji, if you get below 40, you are failed, between 40 & 50 you will pass, but I will again fail you if you get between 50 and 70!" Seems to fly in the face of logic! [Tanvir ji] Am replying to various of your postings at once. > I have heard the Yo-Yo concept of the Vimshopak Bala from many, > and heard many using 'Higher is better' concept too. I believe that anything we learn - in Jyotish, or any other subject - should lead us closer to the light. Failing this, it is questionable if we should learn it at all! > Guru in Simha, Surya behaves like Guru. This is strange. Yeah! > I would not say that Guru behaves like Surya, but just Surya checks the good and > bad effects coming from Guru. This is reasonable. If I'm in your house, I will behave the way you want me to - I will not force you, in your own house, to behave like me! *** > i personally like not to express my views / result of research. > most people do not understand, u do not get the appreciation, > and most of all, there creates a strong debate most of the times, True. But, I'm sure that there are people who will appreciate. For example, I really liked the analysis you did for my Guru in the 8th house. Of course, there is always a problem with differing opinion! In any case, your call! *** > If a member X uses the data posted > by Y along with Y's name in some other place, publication, how > do I get sure that I shall be knowing that? Very right! I think that, morally, we should inform the person concerned before doing something. In the file SBC.PDF, which is on JR, I have mentioned a case. Though it came in an open forum, I asked the person, who gladly permitted me to use the data, without the name. Ultimately, it is all just a matter of courtesy. Personally, I also feel that if I have offered any analysis, I have a right to feature it anywhere else. Of course, ethics are almost as debatable as theories in astrology! :-) ===== Balaji Narasimhan * http://www.sherlock-holmes.com/balaji.htm Author, Sherlock Holmes: Solutions from the Sussex Downs Editor, The Partial Art of Detection =====
