Dear Ashwani:

Thanks for your kind words....

My experiences have caused me to contemplate what I like to call,

Consciousness Jyotish,

because there is a real new, though of course, ancient, aspect of Jyotish

which has to do

with traveling in the stars....

There are even some, (vedic scholars) that say: "The stars reside within

you".

Also, "As we study Jyotish, we integrate the connection between the inner

and the outer."

And, I've experienced that, after several years of studying Jyotish and even

the Astronomy,

I started to notice, there were stars,...there inside...

And of course, initially I just thought they were interesting thoughts,

images, but later, realized they were the actual stars!

And it sooo fits Vedic wisdom,...that the entire Universe,...is not really

'out there',..

but is infact,.... inside....here!

....... Why Astrology? g4sf

Hi Mark,

Reading your experiences of "self"in Jyotish perspective tells

that You have gone through billions of miles inside yourself and come back

stunned that "you could actually travel through this deep vastness inside,

that only blessed ones are given chance to.In fact I appreciate the effort

you have taken to bring inside of youself out. Because experiencing

something is totally different than narrating. Whenever god gives us chance

to overhaul ourselves-its definitely our opportunity given to serve

humanity. It becomes most difficult task though to enlighten people by

telling them something they don't even believe in.

There are vast number of Astrologicl phenomenon occuring every second

which affects a human being, outcomes of which are felt in negative or

positive way, unless some corrective measures are taken. This is where

Jyotish plays its part(for the blessed ones). This system is so kind to

inform--"That this is to be corrected-Because of past karma faults--Do

it"-Indications are coming with the placements of GRAHYE and NAKSHATRAS.Only

thing is that people have to understand the Malefic Or Benific Functions(as

you mentioned),

This is my most favorite, exciting area of Jyotish....

how to transform ourselves through strengthening our 'so-called' malefic

planets....

It's one of the reasons I like our jyotish-remedies group, because the name

itself, says it all,

and reminds us, to put attention on those transformative, 'remedies'....

Otherwise, people fixate on the problem, the static, fatalistic quality of

Jyotish,

which unfortunately, has been so common in our Earth's most recent past...

Or how to convert malefic into Benific(Remedy) as per present karma

opportunities offered(Even You are doing that by serving people in this

way-For some of your past karmas).

Its a real treat to read your experience in this context and this Reaffirms

our belief and efforts for such a worldforum.Thanks.

Dear Friends:

September 16, 2004

We have so many new members joining as of late, I thought it might be

worthwhile, to reflect again, on 'why this concept' of Nature's Astrology.

We're presently witnessing a very exciting time in the field of Astrology,

because #1, there's this powerful growth of Jyotish, or Indian or Vedic or

Eastern Astrology coming out into the West, and

#2, the West has whole heartily, embraced this new Knowledge.

As a result of this recent phenomena, there's been a kind of blending of

these two great fields of Jyotish, and as a result, we're beginning to see

this new 'blend' as if, is beginning to exhibit, 'signs' of the Best...of

both the West as well as the East...

When I first started studying Jyotish, in 1988, over 16 years ago, there was

something very captivating about Jyotish. Though, I guess that was mostly

in having one's chart, 'read'. I'll never forget my first 'reading'. Some

fairly well known Indian, in New Delhi, did my chart.

And I was totally unprepared for the power and intimacy of his words.

"Let's first verify your chart", he said. "Now, you have this kind of

relationship with your Mother, and ....your Father..." Well, each and every

thing he touched on, thrilled me.

I knew something about Western Astrology, having had my first exposure to

'that' in the early 1970's.... but... the quality of 'ahhhaaa' was

unmistakable.

I asked him, ah, probably blurted out something like: "How, can Jyotish

know all these things!"

He just smiled and said, ancient science of Jyotish, very powerful, very

true.

And that was my first experience.

Then, I spent the next 30 days attending an Ayurvedic Course in Delhi, where

every once in awhile, the Vedic professors would say things like: "And of

course, both Ayurved and Jyotish go hand and hand together."

And I'd just had this unbelievable personal experience with my Jyotish

chart, so of course, I was enthralled to study further when I came back.

Immediately I discovered two things. #1, all the books that I read relating

to 'my Jyotish chart', still did give me an intimate 'rush'... but....#2, I

was very surprised and puzzled by the intense kind of 'fatalism' and even,

'negativity' that I perceived in their words.

Then, I remembered something else that I had heard while being in India.

And that was, the belief that India itself, is going through a huge

catharthis, related to 'her' ancient Vedic Knowledge. One of the Vedic

teachers I heard even said: "India knows that knowledge goes through deep

periods of loss and revival of knowledge. We are in one such period, where

the heart and soul of Ancient Ved, are being revived for this, our modern

World."

I think of that, now, when I think of Jyotish. It does seem to have this

power, this preciseness. Many of the ideas and principles, do seem to

strike a deep cord.

And yet, there is this 'Eastern' slant, which we don't trust, from the West.

In fact, we believe that any young man, (and girl), can become President!

In fact, this may be why the 'West' has progressed so quickly in terms of

modern scientific progress as well as more material, mundane, commercial

pursuits.

There are more billionaires, today, then any period in the history of the

World.

The West, even Western Astrology, believes in this concept of 'progress',

'change', 'improvement' and even 'transformation'.

Now, I'm beginning to see the hint, of the future!

This belief in the power of 'growth' and 'transformation', which may be at

the very heart of Western culture, is now, colliding with the eternal,

powerful, Wisdoms of Vedic Astrology.

Now, we're seeing many Westerners, even former Western Astrologers, writing

books about Eastern Astrology.

And, this slant towards 'fatalism' or 'pre-determinism', is beginning to

wane.

I heard one time, a student of Vedic Knowledge say: " So, what is it? Are

we free, or is everything determined?"

The Vedic Pundit, smiled and said, .... 'both'!

Our intellects, recoil, because intellectually, how can both exist....!

Either we're free or we're not.....

It seems like a pretty clear cut, either/or..question and answer.

But, later it began to occur to me, that maybe this is right. Maybe,

somehow, freedom and boundaries, could co-exist.

>From the Jyotish angle, the preciseness of the chart, translated even, into

a very precise appreciation of when certain events and periods will

happen!,.... seems sooo determined.

Depending upon the actions in the past,...the future is set!

"For every action, there's an equal and opposite, reaction!"

But,.... I'm also a great student of the art and science of Consciousness,

development.

The other major thing I've done with my life, since my early College years,

was to learn to meditate.

And every year, now, that I take the time, to turn my attention inwards, I

begin to feel, that 'freedom' aspect.

There is this, delicious place inside, which I'm now beginning to

understand...

where people have said....

o 'is a field of unbounded potential'...

o 'is the source of all thought'....

o 'is an inexhaustible reservoir of energy and intelligence'...

And, I have to admit the more and more, that I've had this experience, there

has been this very powerful, shift, growing on, inside...

that could be described as a very powerful, new 'freedom', inside....

Maybe freedom is Being.

Maybe contact with 'that', and the subsequent, integration of 'that' freedom

and potential.... could be a good definition of 'freedom in life'....

However, outside, the World does seem to follow very precise, and lawful,

rules, and principles, which seem to be very exact and .... bound...

You plant an apple seed, and you're going to get an apple tree!

No flexibility, no freedom of choice, there!

Though there are examples today, of horticulturists, beginning to learn how

to graft and create different hybrids, of all kinds of plants and seeds....

One last development change that happened to me, began when I discovered

something which Astrology/Jyotish, calls the 'transits'.

I remember it pretty exactly. I'd been studying my Jyotish chart for over a

year, and it all made a lot of sense to me,....but....

something was missing. I mean, I knew all the facts, all the rules, all the

ideas and principles....but....

something was not quite right.

So, I gave my study, (my brain, I think), a rest.... and then later I

thought,...'It might be fun to watch the transits!'....

I'd heard about them, but not watched them a lot.

So, then I started to watch what was going on, out-there, in Nature.

I'd create a chart for any day, maybe even a particular time,.... and then,

I'd look into that day.

Then, .... fairly quickly, it was like Astrology 'came alive', to me....

I could see the remnants, the presence of the various ideas and Jyotish

principles,... but, I was totally unprepared for this magical, vibrant, ....

full of life, quality.... coming ....as if.... looking into

Nature,....herself...

For one, I discovered, that during every moment, .... whether Benefic or

Malefic, there was this co-existence, of such powerful 'silence'....and

'bliss',.... that I knew that predominantly,....life was Good!

Then, I began to rethink, some of the pessimism, skepticism, and negativity,

that I had earlier, encountered.

Then, I began re-reading some of the classics that I had earlier visited.

One such book is the ancient text of the famous Maharishi Parashara, often

described as the founder of Jyotish.

He has this one book on Hora Jyotish, where he says: "In the beginning Lord

Vishnu entered into each of the Grahas, to bestow upon his devotes, the

automatic consequences of their actions...."

When I thought about this, I realized what I'd missed.

There are no 'real' Malefic Planets, or Houses. There are only really

functional Malefics. If the Lord exists, within as the presiding deity of

each Planet, then, none of 'them', can be especially bad, or Malefic!

So, began my particular, insight and study of Jyotish..... "not only are the

Malefics in our charts, indicative of our problems, griefs and challenges in

life.... These same malefics, in fact, are indicative of our Jyotish

opportunities, and Solutions!".....

A little bit later, I realized...there did exist an Astrology, 'out there',

which was neither Western nor Eastern.... and in fact, could be nothing but

a kind of 'Nature's Astrology'....

We can discover the truths of Jyotish, the rules, and principles,.... out

there, in that 'Natural Astrology'.... and in doing that, a very powerful,

and innate kind of 'aha' or 'wakefulness' begins to be stirred inside...

This , then, is dedicated to this unique blending of the Best, of

Western & Eastern Astrologys.

Nature isn't just Western or Eastern.

It's somehow, both, and yet, (in my belief), inclusive of the best of both

these great systems of Astrology.

And finally, because we live in such an important 'Scientific' age, it seems

very important that we contribute, to help, Jyotish/or Western Astrology,

move into a stage of acceptance, as a truely modern Science of Astrology.

This group, then, is dedicated to these things...

#1 Discuss the Best of the Western & Eastern Systems...

#2 See if 'those' 'bests', don't in fact exist, out there, or in-there,

inside of us...

and

#3 Finally, see if we can't find the power of growth, change and

transformation,

truely existing in Jyotish or Astrology as well as existing in unique

individuals,

who seem to have learned how to tap, or find that place inside, from which

all

change and freedom, exist.

Welcome again, to our great experiment, and group, and I look forward to

hearing from all of you, related to your own personal experiences, ideas and

insights.
