Guest guest
Dears GURU SHIMA TO KANAYA RASI BY DR.J.PERUMAL. The purpose of Vedic Astrology is to guide us in the process of Self realization and development and not merely to a restricted projection of the future governed by unseen external forces. We have been discussing the forth coming change of transit of Jupiter. Whatever is said about this planet is insufficient to really understand the total gamut of this intangible planet and its benefits. The tangible benefits are often drawn to wealth, progeny, marriage, husband (for women) etc. But the most important of all is; Jupiter indicates Divine Grace. It is the planet of luck. He indicates, good fortune, good judgment and denotes Good that exists in all Evil. With the help of this planet man becomes helpful to mankind and helps in his or her tiny way to preserve the creation. Desire which is closely connected with the word 'kama' has a much higher meaning than a just sensory delight seeking emotion. This desire or kama is our way of keeping the creation alive. Man is different from animals yet both are subject to the cycle of nature. Man desires for partnership which culminates in marriage, marriage brings contentment and completeness in the birth of a new life. This new life is the beacon of future. Jupiter is recognized as the celestial father of all, he is the father; he is thepowerthatconnects two souls in a sacred bond of marriage and subsequently blesses with progeny. A weak, afflicted or debilitated Jupiter causes disruption in these. When Jupiter is well placed and is well aspected in a horoscope the person is generally warm, generous and expands good will towards others. The good that is done to others has a natural cycle of returning the gesture. The person in turn enjoys a good life mostly beyond expectation. When Jupiter is afflicted, one has to act intellectually; careful analysis must be made of all situations. The trouble is this is exactly what the afflicted person is unable to do. There appear lowly inclinations and the person forgets; "Kindness is the golden chain by which society is bound together" These are words of Goethe and many great souls have written about the virtue of this noble feeling. Let me now refresh on the matters connected with this planet in general for different Ascendants. Aries Ascendant Jupiter is the lord of the 9th house, the house of Destiny and 12th house, the house of Detachment/Expenditure & Losses/Salvation. The lordship of Jupiter on the 9th house is benefic, but for the 12th house, a weak Jupiter can cause material losses and prolong debts. Taurus Ascendant Jupiter if the lord of the 8th house, the house of procreation, regeneration, longevity, death and sexual behavior; and 11th house the house of material success. The effect determinant factor once again is the strength of Jupiter (besides its connections with other planets). While a strong Jupiter can pave the way for successes, a weak one can cause setbacks, ups & downs in income and problems in marital life. Gemini Ascendant Jupiter has lordship over the 7th and 10th houses. The 7th House is the house of spouse or life partner and the 10th House stands for professional career, ambition, social prestige and achievements. A weak Jupiter for the Gemini Ascendant is a very sensitive issue, as two very important aspects of life are involved here - marriage and career. Marriage is often delayed and partnerships in general suffer. Cancer Ascendant Jupiter is the lord of the 6th house, the house of health, enemy and obstacles; it is also the lord of the 9th house, the house of destiny and past karma. A strong Jupiter oversees a robust and lucky individual to whom wealth comes naturally, while a weak one indicates loss of wealth, disapproval of persons in authority, health hazards and losses in competitive situations. Leo Ascendant The lordship of Jupiter rests with the 5th and the 8th houses. The 5th house denotes creativity, love/romance and children, while the 8th house, as mentioned above, denotes procreation, regeneration, longevity, death and sexual behavior. Each one of these are important aspects of life. A strong Jupiter blesses with the house traits, while a weak one causes obstructions in true happiness in these areas. Emotional setbacks are common as are financial constraints. Virgo Ascendant Jupiter is the lord of 4th and 7th houses, for the Virgo ascendant. The 4th house stands for domestic bliss, our Mother and her influence and possessions like real-estate. The 7th, as already mentioned, is the house of spouse or life partner. The strength of Jupiter, for the Virgo ascendant is the key to happiness in life. A weakness in Jupiter could mean disturbances on the domestic front and education. Libra Ascendant Lordship of the 3rd and 6th houses rests with Jupiter. The former denotes material progress and communication while the latter stands for health, enemy and obstacles. Strength of Jupiter's placement in the chart plays its usual critical role once again. Communication failures and wastes efforts could mark the weakness of Jupiter for the Libra ascendant. Scorpio Ascendant Jupiter is the lord of the 2nd and 5th houses. The 2nd house is the house of the self in material world; it denotes the progress of the inner self and in material terms it signifies the net wealth that we build for ourselves. The 5th house represents creative intelligence, love/romance, children and education and recovery. A strong Jupiter augurs well for these significant areas, while the reverse may cause obstructions in acquiring assets and enjoyment of domestic happiness. Sagittarius Ascendant Lordships of the 1st and 4th houses are with Jupiter. The 1st house represents the inner self (the Soul), and the outer self (the Body). It indicates the way we project ourselves--our behavior and attitude to the external world, as well as our physical attributes. It also signifies our life in general. The 4th house represents Domestic Bliss. It represents our Mother and her influence on our life. It also represents our residence, possession of real estate, comfort of conveyance. In general it represents ancestry, heritage, our roots with our birthplace. A weak Jupiter often contributes to an unhappy frame of mind, given the significant areas governed by these houses. Health may get affected and one may even face financial constraints. Capricorn Ascendant Jupiter is the lord of the 12th and 3rd houses. The first represents our material expenditure and losses. It also represents our karmic and spiritual debts in this life. It is the house of salvation or "Moksha". The twelfth house also represents our foreign connections and is also the house of secret pleasures and sex. The 3rd house denotes material progress and communication. Strength of Jupiter's placement in the chart plays is indeed critical in this case. A low strength could lead to unexpected losses and problems in marital life. Aquarius Ascendant Here, Jupiter is the lord of the 11th and 2nd houses. The 11th is the house of material success. It represents our income and profit. It reflects the material success that we achieve through our professional efforts. It also represents our older siblings and our relations with social groups and organizations. The 2nd house, as mentioned above, is the house of the self; it denotes the progress of the inner self and in material terms it signifies the net wealth that we build for ourselves. A weak Jupiter may leave one dissatisfied with income and results of efforts applied. Problems from friends have also been observed in this case. Pisces Ascendant Jupiter is the lord of the 10th and 1st houses. It describes our Professional Career, Ambition, Social Prestige and Achievement. It represents our relation with the government and ruling elite. It also represents our Father and his influence on our life. The 1st house governs our represents the inner self (the Soul), and the outer self (the Body) and our behavior and attitude to the external world, as well as our physical attributes. It also signifies our life in general. A weak Jupiter could cause careerproblems and concerns with children. These are general guidelines to give you an idea of your own Jupiter and what it means for you. Jupiter's aspect can wipe out millions of instances of Evil provided the destiny of the person allows it. Even divine grace is bound by our own actions and the karmic wheel is not under a power. It is driven by the balance of good and bad, the two opposing forces of our conscience. A fully competent Jupiter reflects past good deeds and can and will bring benefic effects even as an intruder into the malefic's sphere of control. So one must bear in mind that the actual effect realized is an amalgam of Jupiter's strength, its location in the chart, its conjunction with other planets, aspects received by it and aspects given by it, to name a few important parameters. Remedy There are a number of methods for the propitiation of Jupiter. Some very exotic methods also find mention in different works, but let me briefly describe some of the most respected and time tested methods here: - Strengthening of Jupiter by wearing a Yellow Sapphire. Needless to say that the chart must be analyzed by an astrologer first to judge the status of Jupiter and if in its strengthening, there will be any side effects. In some cases the astrologer may even recommend the strengthening of another planet to balance the weakness of Jupiter. - A Yantra for Jupiter A Yantra may be used in cases where use of gemstone is not found suitable. Wearing a Yantra requires focus and practice of regular meditation with mantras to keep the same energized and effective. - Periodic performance of Nav-graha Puja The performance of this puja and specifically doing Homa with the chanting of Gayatri Mantra and Jupiter's Mantra, using some specified articles. - Practice of prayer and worship of Narayan Sri Narayan or Satya Narayan is the ruling deity of Jupiter. Black blue and red colors are not recommended to be worn on this day of worship. Hindu scriptures also recommend the worship of Goddess Tara on this weekday for the propitiation of Jupiter. Jupiter is weak and its benefic powers are reduced by its placement in: - Capricorn, its sign of debility - the aspect of Saturn, Rahu, Ketu, Sun and Mars - difficult houses like the 6th, 8th or 12th
