The planets merely represent qualities in nature. The language of

astrology is just another form of the language of nature and her

basic energetic attributes.

Our solar system is sometimes taken to be the personification of the

Divine Person of time (Kala Purusha). The Sun is the soul of this

Kala Purusha, the Moon His senses and emotions, Mars His power and

strength, etc. The Sun is Royal and noble, the Moon changeable,

courageous; while Mercury, the student, is a calculator and a

SUN HOUR: Sun is the lord of Sunday. Sun gives intelligence,

perception, strength of will and character. It affords endurance,

stamina, vitality, positive spirit, direction, courage, conviction,

confidence, leadership, independence and straight- forwardness. The

Sun is in his strongest placement directly overhead in the 10th

House. He is also strong in the other Kendras, or Angles. These are

the Houses 1, 4, and 7.

The Sun also does well in what are called the Upachaya, or growing

Houses. These are the Houses 3, 6 and 11.

His nature, or temperament is pitta, or fiery, and the gemstone

associated with the Sun is the red ruby. The Sun's metal is Gold and

his direction is East.

His day, of course, is Sunday, and he comes into full maturity and

brilliance at age 22.

Sun: Position of power, dignity, authority and responsibility,

judges, magistrates, banks and business where huge sums of money are

handled and goldsmiths. Sun governs vitality, immunity and speedy

recovery from diseases. Hence, to take medicine or to undergo

surgical operations, solar hour is auspicious. Sun also indicates

power authority, influence, dignity, honours and reputation, which

means it is a good time to take charge of some important job or post.

Sun, Mars and Jupiter combination. For the Judge or Law matters - Sun

One can commence praying to Suryanaranyan and Lord Vishnu for peace

and prosperity. Sun is exalted in the sign of Aries, and he is in his

best time of the months are from 21 March to 28 April and 10 July to

August 20. These periods are best suited for making new plans &

investments. He is particularly beneficial for the fire sign

Moon is the lord of Monday. Moon rules over the sign of Cancer. In

Rohini, in Taurus where the Moon is exalted. He is exalted in Taurus,

and fallen in the opposite sign of Scorpio. The Moon is most

comfortable and powerful in the 4th House; also in the angles. Metal

is silver and the direction is Northwest. The bright Moon is

considered a benefic of the highest order, and the dark Moon is

considered a malefic. Her nature is kapha, or watery.

Moon, the fastest moving planet, suggests that Moon Hora is

advantageous for safe and successful overseas journey. Musicians

should select Moon Hora on Mondays or Friday for fertile imagination

and melodious tune. Tuesday is beneficial for those who use drum.

HORA OF MOON As the Sun represents character or individuality, the

Moon indicates our personality. Afflictions to the Moon show

personality disorders, difficulties in relating to other people and

emotional disturbances. A strong Moon, on the other hand, shows

sensitivity, receptivity, caring for others and a nurturing attitude

in life. It gives emotional maturity, responsibility and the capacity

to have a beneficial effect upon society. Rahu can cause us to lose

thinking power over our mind.

Moon period is preferable for those seeking appointment as midwife,

nurse, etc. You can plan and contemplate during Moon Hora the right

and wrong can be clear and easy to come to conclusions. Moon Hora in

Approach people during Moon Hora. Even the strong willed person will

be favourable to you. Those who deal in food materials and in oils,

kerosene, petrol, acids, etc. can start business during Moon Hora on

a Monday and Rohini Star days will be good.

Purchase of property in the Moon Hora. The price of the property will

Moon Hora is good especially on Thursday. Good for gains without

pains when dealing with mothers and maternal relatives. Hotels or

Hora pray to Goddess Lakhsmi and Lalitha for Peace.

Moon is considered a benefic of the highest order, and the dark Moon

WEAK PERIODS: December, January and February are the months when

someone's Moon in the birth chart is affected. The person will suffer

from psychological problems. They should prepare themselves to face

hardship during these months.

HORA OF MARS is the great planet of energy. As Venus governs our

affections, our emotional and vital impressionability, Mars relates

to our passions, our emotional and vital capacity for self-

projection. We could say that Venus governs our incoming emotions,

our capacity to receive emotion; Mars rules our outgoing emotions,

our capacity to project emotion. Mars is the planet of power,

strength, and courage, aggression, which measures our ability to

project force in life.

Mars is a karaka, or indicator, of brother and siblings, assertion,

aggressiveness, soldiers and military endeavours, mechanical ability,

engineers and surgeons, commanders and rulers, accidents, violence

and war, ambition, strength, arguments and conflict, passion and

desire.

Like Surya, the Sun, Mars most powerful position is in the 10th

House. He is a particularly beneficial planet for Cancer or Leo

Ascendants. His nature is Pitta, or fiery. His gem is red coral and

his direction is South. Mars' day is Tuesday and he reaches full

maturity at age 28.

MARS HOUR Mars rules over Tuesdays. It is the lord of the Nakshatra

of MRGASHIRA, CHITRA and DHANISTHA. It gets exalted in Capricorn

Whenever Mars is strong by transiting in its own or exalted signs or

in its stars and on Tuesdays. Especially when it happens to be the

10th house to the Lagna rising and during Mars Hora. It is good to

file any lawsuit in a court of law, it is advantageous to argue

during Mars Hora and win the case. On a Thursday during Mars Hora try

for comprise and fair settlement for the property.

the good logical faculties. The lawyer, the politician and the

scientist need such a strong Mars. With logic and science, Mars gives

mechanical skills. Combined with Jupiter, the positive side of Mars

comes out as the capacity to make great achievements in life in

harmony with law and truth. On the negative side, this same

aggression brings about competition, argument, conflict--and when not

HORA OF MERCURY (Budha) This is the planet, which represents speech,

communication and commerce on all levels. In his lower function he

organizes and articulates material resources. Mercury's favourite

placement is rising in the 1st House. His nature is Vata, or Airy.

His gem is Emerald and his metal is all forms of alloys. His

direction is North.

MERCURY HOUR is very strong and powerful on Wednesdays during time

when in Gemini or Virgo and on ASHLESHA, Jyeshta and REVATI star days

especially REVATI On a higher level Mercury connects us with our

inner capacities, the powers of the mind. As Jupiter generally

represents the higher or abstract mind, Mercury indicates the lower

or concrete mind, the intellect or informational mentality. As a

planet of commerce, Mercury represents trade, or articles of trade,

including money. He may value communication and public opinion more

than truth, and become dependent on and defensive of whatever is the

strongest environmental influence.

Under a strong negative Saturn influence Mercury can lose its power

and show lack of intelligence. Afflictions to Mercury do not always

give lack of intelligence or intellect, however. They may cause some

other harm, like speech defects, nervous disorders.

Other planets, like Jupiter can give intelligence, but without a

strong Mercury there will be difficulty in expressing it,

5 and 9. Venus is a particularly beneficial planet for Capricorn and

silver. Venus' direction is South East. On the lower stage she

represents the pleasure of the senses and the comforts of the body.

Such a pure Venus comes out in association with Jupiter and Mercury.

SATURN In Vedic astrology the planet Saturn is called Shani. In

Sanskrit Shani comes from shanaiscara, which means, "slow mover".

>From Shani we get the word "shun", which means to ignore, or lose

awareness of something. Thus, Saturn represents a loss of awareness,

or ignorance. This loss of awareness can also mean the diminishing

awareness of the material world of manifestation.

Here Saturn indicates the ascetic, rich with inner spirituality, and

lost to this material plane of existence. He rules over the two

sidereal signs of Capricorn and Aquarius. He is exalted in Libra, and

fallen in the opposite sign of Aries. Saturn is a karaka, or

indicator, of longevity, misery, sorrow, old age and death,

discipline, restriction, responsibility, delays, ambition, leadership

and authority, humility, integrity, wisdom born of experience. Saturn

also indicates asceticism, denial, non-attachment, spirituality, hard

work, organization, reality and time itself. SATURN HOUR The Hour of

Saturn is strong for the matters relating to Saturn. The period of 20

expansion, Saturn brings about contraction and destruction. Jupiter

is the positive teacher of the soul and the Saturn is the negative

guide. The influence of Saturn is to delay, to withhold. As the

slowest moving of the planets he retards things, holds back their

development. Saturn indicates property, land and fixed assets. Those

who obtain wealth through a well-disposed Saturn may become misers,

and will carefully hold on to what has with such difficulty been

acquired. Its negative side comes out particularly in association

with Mars, another cruel planet. As the power of darkness and

obstruction, Saturn is the enemy of the Sun and the Moon, and has an

eclipse like affect upon them. Only Jupiter has the power to really

subdue or to balance out his influence, though Venus and Mercury can

refine it to a great degree. In this respect, the power of Shiva, the

lord of the yogis, the god of death and transcendence may work

through Saturn.

Retrograde or Weak Saturn in the chart will generally have a weak

period during the first 20 days of days of Jan, and the last weak of

Feb, and the months of Dec, March and April. During these times they

suffer losses, get blamed and humiliated and suffer separations from

loved ones. They should avoid new undertakings, signing legal papers.

When weak: This makes the person greedy, morbid, gloomy. They

continuously suffer from losses and psychosomatic problems caused by

disturbance in their body chemistry. this is due to aggravation of

wind element humour. ( a disturbance of in the flow of the gases in

the body). They do not like discipline, they are rebellious and law

breakers they behave like an old man and appear older.
