sir

I want to know the calculations or mathematical formulaes or the way

to find the position of the plaents in the rasi chakra eg. in 1999

the god saturn was in Mesha, such a way now the lord jupiter in Leo.

how to find the positions of the planets and the time of

retrogations.. without seeing panchanka, i want to find the

positions.. Is there any formulae or calculations behind this..

kindly help me in this regard...

You have the following courses to adopt:

Books by Michael Erlewine (A manual of programming for astrologers;

Matrix publications; also by Duffett-Smith Astrological calculations

in Basic (earlier version for calculators)

There may be freeware routines available on the net from these books

also those written by John Meeus

These are not directly executable in today's environment of XP and

Windows etc. but if you really are prepared to work hard, you will

be able to make sense soon -- I know I did, with hardly any

understanding of math, spherical trigonometry, BASIC or machine

language many many years ago. You may want to try to look for these

keywords and Swiss Ephemeris and Jet Propulsion Lab algorithms on

the web.

There are also simpler ways if you are just interested in

calculating positions and not understanding how they are calculated.

There is the method of using proportional logarithms and ephemeris

that many of us used in the precomputer era. Two books that might

help would be the one by Usha-Sashi and one by Kapoor (I have seen

the former but not the later but heard a lot about it).

So you see, there are many many resources available right on the

net. I am actually surprised that anyone even asks these questions

on fora when altavista.com and google.com and netscape search

engines would bring in overwhelming amounts of information on all

aspects of astrology :-)

Happy hunting!
