Guest guest
Hello KD san, Shitsurei shimasu. Continuing with the logical approach of practical basis of Muhurthas and marriages , not only Ashadha was avoided but Shravana, Bhadrapada(Being Pitru masa) and also Ashvina was avoided in fixing marriages. Marriages in Dhanurmasa were also discouraged and banned due to child birth taking place in August-september for the same reasons . Thinking logically, in olden days, biggest hinderence was safe transportation followed by near death experience for women in productive age being Child Birth. Infant/maternal mortality was very high. Deaths due to infected waters were very high. Thus if Marriages were to be conducted in Rainy season, the births would start right from Vasant Ritu thro summer when maximum marriages were fixed for obvious reasons like easy transport, lot of liquidity of money after crops were sold etc. Anything that would upset the applecart by death in delivery/child mortality etc would affect many families due to SUTAKAM . The Brahmins would lose that much business due to stoppage of Marriages and other samskaras from all affected families who wold be observing sutakams. Marriagesand child births being the most important of shodasha samskaras were taken very seriously .(Due to economic reasons ) We need to understand that our ancestors , apart from being religious were extremely logical in fixing timings for everything. Every muhurtham/festival revolved around economy.Marriagesand child births being the most important of shodasha samskaras were taken very seriously .(Due to economic reasons ) People may have different views. As self always says, Tunde Tunde (Munde- Munde) Matir Bhinaa. I presume there is also some >>scientific reason to that??? OBVIOUSLY, INTENTION IS SEPARATING COUPLES, SAYING IT IN A DIFFERENT WAY! AND THERE ARE MANY MANY IMPLIED STYLES OF SAYING THINGS WITH HIDDEN MEANING. ALL THOSE STUFF CAN NOT BE REASONED ALWAYS AND THEY CONTINUE AS A PART OF CULTURE! BUT REALLY IF SOMEONE CAN RELATE WITH SCIENTIFIC LOGIC, I WOULD BE HAPPY TO KNOW! And what Tat-twam-asi says as logical reason for 'avoiding any Muhurtha in Aashadha' is true BUT it doesnot open up the logic behind the present question in view - WHY ONLY FOR THE FIRST TIME COUPLES ARE SEPARATED IN AASHADHA? As far as RAINY season and agriculture is concerned, it is not at all related in this case! Since it starts raining in every AASHADHA and couples will not separate each year! Logically - to avoid first labour at summer? Astrologically- to avoid debility of Mercury, the key planet? is the real question! It would be interesting to know that Sri Rama's chart and Ravana's chart were alike except for Mercury in Taurus and Pisces respectively. That makes sense why Mercury must be avoided from debility!(Ref. Royal Horoscopes - B.SuryanarainRao, grand father of BV Raman) yours KAD ~!
