Guest guest
Dear Mr. Ranjan: What a pleasant surprise to see you here. Do you recall we met on the "Astroexpert" board about 3 years back and you had helped me with some of my problems? I thought you had stopped writing after "Astroexperts" discussion board died, but it is so nice to see you writing here. I just read some of your notes on this board and they're so refreshing. Please do continue to write. We love your unique, but practical approach to Jyotish that DOESN'T stray from the classics. I find it so frustrating that Jyotish these days are inventing some new approach almost everyday JUST for the sake of APPEARING UNIQUE or JUST to drum-up more business than his/her web-competition and these approaches are mere garbage or borderline nonsensical. In my experience, no Jyotish can make an accurate prediction from the point of view of timing events in one's life. A general prediction can be made and accurate knowlege of "planets in houses" and "planets in signs" is more than enough to make a broad-brush prediction. Ya, aspects from/to planets and rashis modify the karmic signature based on house and rashi placements greatly. A professional astrologer needs to be well-versed in planetary placements and results of aspects before "inventing" NEW nonsensical approaches. I've been studying the basics for about 4 years and still feel very inadequate and keep chasing masters like you for answers/angles. Was I destined to meet you again? Yesterday, I had typed "sade-sati and remedies" in search to look up remedies for my up-coming Sade-sati (Leo rashi) and I found Tanvir's home page which led me to this discussion group. It is so fulfiling to meet/read you again. So, have you converted to Lahiri yet? or are you still a non-believer? Bye. Mukund
Guest guest
Hello Mukund! Nice to see you here :-) Hope things are going well with you. No, I am still using Raman ayanamsha. Like I mentioned in a recent post here, I had used Lahiri in the past with different dasha durations, etc. but had to keep looking ... I was originally attracted to Lahiri's values because back then when all local panchaangs gave very different values for the same planet (and not because of ayanamsha but due to calculations used), Lahiri's ephemeris were a godsend in terms of astronomical quantities.
