Guest guest
Hi, Can you all suggest some good books on Vedic Astrology it would be very helpful to me. Regarding learning vedic astrology if the members here can share about the ways in which they have learnt, or any procedure they follow to learn. I would be very greatful. regards Rajesh Vaswani This e-mail and any attachment is for authorised use by the intended recipient(s) only. Guest guest
Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, translated by G.C Sharma, Sagar Publication -- one of the best translations. Several other versions, including free internet versions exist which may or may not be fine or legal for that matter (karma!) Laghu Parashari Madhya Parashari by Sareen Uttarkalamrita translated by PS Shastri Phaladeepika, trans Sareen More than books or magazine subscriptions, invest in a good database. The best currently available (though expensive) would be astrodatabank containing 27000+ charts. There are also other collections Taeger for instance that might be available. Other sources -- explore. Quite frankly, what I have seen in published literature is valuable but most of the books come with limited data, limited interpretations and they move too quickly from chart to chart. Books like Raman's notable horoscopes and Behari's similar compendium or Tyl's book as well as Margaret Millard's book of charts are useful study material. Even though the latter are western astrology-based, you will find better data quality and details in the non-indian books, in general. You can then use the data to figure out the jyotish aspect of it. Jyotish, regardless of what "schools" and gurus would want to impress upon you, can work with not too extensive a rule-set. Mind you, this will not make you 100% accurate or a trikalagya (regardless of what some of the newer (50 years or less!) schools claim but never demonstrate transparently in a cold reading, blind setting, or go silent when challenged to respond!), but will give you enough to keep you going and then your personal effort does the rest. Guest guest
~ Om Namah Shivaya ~ To start with, "An Integrated Approach to Vedic Astrology" by PVR Narashima Rao Ji is a good one. Then you can move to B.V. Raman's How to Judge Horoscopes (vol I and II). No doubt, BPHS is an excellent reference for anybody who is learning this divine science.
