Durga Saptashati Parayanam

Dear All,

 

Namaste. I often see Devi Mahatmya Parayanam as a remedy for Rahu and

other planetary ill-effects.

 

But I gather from several sources that the Devi Mahatmyam should

never be chanted without initiation by a SatGuru and elaborate

qualifications are required for starting the chanting (e.g. 10 lakhs

of Chandi Navakshari Japa - which again requires mantra diksha by a

SatGuru, etc.)

 

I also hear that if DM chanted without adhering to proper

prescriptions, severe adverse effects are likely.

 

Would appreciate any information in this regard.

Dear Murali,

As I know first adhaaya of Durga Sapatashati (stuti of mahakaali) is

very good remedy for rahu.But there is vadhah in some shlok and after

the completion adhyaaya there is iti.You should never pronounce iti

and vadhah-

iti shabdah harerlakshami,vadhah kulvinaashakah

adhyayo harate praanaan ,satyaah santu falahpradah

 

thats why for every anushthan proper initiation by Guru is needed.

After the completion of adhyaya you should say -

shri markandey puraane saavarnike manavantare satyaah santu mam

kaamah.
