Guest guest
Dear friends, Another thought of mine. Again not very astrological but a reality, a truth.....writing from experience and observation... ADDICTION...GET RID OF IT: I always wonder, why there is an emptiness sometimes in our lives, the gap that we cannot fill, the pain of missing something? And when I go deep, I find that it's probably caused by the desire to fulfil the unfulfilled desires in our lives which has taken the shape of an addiction and we cannot give it up. This addiction becomes a part of our life though we know that it may lead us to destruction. But, it gives us that momentary pleasure, without which we feel the emptiness and we don't want to give it up. We like doing certain things so much that the thought of leaving that habit scares us. To give some examples... We love to think about the pleasant past. We get addicted to trying to fulfil our unfulfilled desires of the past in our thoughts. This addiction leads one to misery and agony. we know that past is an illusion, but we still cannot give up this addiction of living in the past in our thoughts as it gives us momentary illusive satisfaction, a FALSE pleasure.......or not? To give another example to explain a little more..... The addiction to fame, addiction to praises can lead a person to lies and pretensions. The person cannot tolerate criticism and behaves abnormally. He loses his sense to judge the good and the bad. It's only running after the praises, the desire to listen to the good in oneself, to satisfy the hunger for fame that matters then. Totally destructive as this addiction can be, makes one an egoistic and blind person. Similarly, the addiction to reach the top......Oh! another race, another craving to win and only win.It makes a person dangerous. He doesn't then bother about anyone else except for himself. Ít's hard to give up these addictions. We try to run after the dreams which could not materialize. We try to make them real in our thoughts. we know that the dream is far from reality and there are other priorities which are more important but we try to fulfil our desires and are never able to give them up. But the question remains... how can we conquer these addictions? It's only and only our will power which is capable of conquering our so long nurtured addictions. To face the challenge is the key to conquer it. We do all know our limits and capabilities. To try to fulfil our dreams is definitely not wrong but to get addicted to a fantasy, an idea or a self-destructive concept and to run after it only leads to false hopes and misery. Let's not run after a mirage, let's recognize the Truth and have the courage to accept the reality. --Manoshi
Guest guest
Dear Manoshi, you wrote: Another thought of mine. Again not very astrological but a reality, a truth.....writing from experience and observation... ADDICTION...GET RID OF IT: I always wonder, why there is an emptiness sometimes in our lives, the gap that we cannot fill, the pain of missing something? - It comes from the mental structure that you have constructed and which allows you to see yourself separated from the Universe. All the rest that you have written about, is a description of how you have elaborated this mental structure ( containing concepts, beliefs, emotions), in your own mind. - No it only allows you to not face what is real in your life right now. It nourrishes your illusion. We like doing certain things so much that the thought of leaving that habit scares us. - Yes, exactly, because it takes courage to face what makes us suffers, to accept the fact that we are responsible for that suffering. If you nourish the habit, you nourish your suffering. It is a choice that you make again and again. At first it might appears as uncouncious choice or uncontrolable, but it remains a personnal choice. You have to work on that choice making. You have to consider those choices as external objects and with practice you can learn to evacuate them from your mental structure and by doing so the mental structure itself will be weaken and eventually it will vanish, and you will find yourself free, directly connected with your essence. To give some examples... We love to think about the pleasant past. We get addicted to trying to fulfil our unfulfilled desires of the past in our thoughts. He doesn't then bother about anyone else except for himself. - Good examples of how a mind can get lost into illusions and mental patterns, and worst get identify with those illusions. Ít's hard to give up these addictions. - Each time you tell yourself it is hard to give up those addictions, you plant the seed in your mind that will allows you to have the excuse of not being able to give up those addictions. So everytime you tell yourself it is difficult, you should tell yourself 10 times, but it is possible, but it is possible... - Not so much a matter of Will, but a matter of the attention of consciouness on the fact that it is an illusion, that the mental structure gives them birth. If you make it a question of WILL, you want to fight it, you give reality to it and enforce its reality and consequently enforce your separation from the Wholeness. If there is a separation to create, it is between the addiction and yourself. We do all know our limits and capabilities. - I don't think so. Otherwise there wouldn't be any running after mirages. To try to fulfil our dreams is definitely not wrong but to get addicted to a fantasy, an idea or a self-destructive concept and to run after it only leads to false hopes and misery. Let's not run after a mirage, let's recognize the Truth and have the courage to accept the reality. - The process of growing is more important then achieving anything. The Truth find itself in the growing process not in an achieving process. Achieving is only a toy to play with for sometimes, you have to let it go to go back to the growing process. Guest guest
Dear Yves, I will give you another example....from my real experience. People hide behind a disguise to put another person down...so that his/her image is not tarnished. Isn't that abnormal? Well, again this example is for a very normal, ordinary person...not for evolved beings. I hope you relate to this at least ;-) regards Manoshi -- In , "khallopapa" <khallopapa> wrote: > Dear Yves, > > Let me clarify one thing....I am not an evolved being. Guest guest
Dear Manoshi, thank you for your genuine sincerity in your writtings. I feel that you wish to be clear intellectually and well understood from the heart, and you are. Let me clarify one thing....I am not an evolved being. I write from a very ordinary person's point of view which any normal person can relate to. I have had experiences in life and my interaction with people which inspire me to write (as a very ordinary person)... - Generalizations are used to hide our own weaknesses. It unfortunatly allows us to not speak anymore from our direct point of view, and allows us to excuse ourselves of what we are. This is not necessary, it is even damaging for your spiritual progress, because it critalize thoughts into a belief system to which we can refer constantly and perpetuate our mistakes. You are not an evolved being, and you are not, not an evolved being. You are not an ordinary man, and you are not, not an ordinary man. You are simply perfect as you are right now, because what you are right now is the best thing you can be right now. Accept this, right now, and you won't need will power anymore to change anything, because the process of life will then be unobstructed. This process is ever evolving, ever changing. It is the chemistry of life. You had experiences in your life and interactions, but you are not those experiences and interactions. You are new at every moment of life. This experience right now of readings those lines is the only experience that exists. It's not MY mental set up but ask any ORDINARY person who tries to find out the answers to his questions will answer the same. - Generalizations. What you have written is very beautiful, I wish every body could follow the path suggested by you. But important is to judge our own faults and try to correct them. Even if you say that we dont know our disabilities...I dont agree. We all know inside what are our weaknesses, - One of an existing fault could be not knowing how to recognize our disabilities. The problem with generalizations is that it goes both ways. First we feel good because we feel like everybody else, and the second step is to put everybody else where we are...You might be able to recognize your own disabilities, and it is a favorable ability in the process of growing, but not «everybody» does. Do not put yourself in a general basket, and don't put everybody else in yours....It will help you to find exactly your inner centre. it's a diffrent thing that we dont want to admit ot recognize them because of our ego. - Yes, ego thing. Like generalization is also an ego thing. As you said.... >Each time you tell yourself it is hard to give up those addictions, you plant the seed in your mind that will allows you to have the excuse of not being able to give up those addictions. So everytime you tell yourself it is difficult, you should tell yourself 10 times, but it is possible, but it is possible... TRUE, Very true. Thats what I am saying...develop your will power. ....face the challenge...right? Don't run away from it. - This is a delicate aspect. You have to be a spiritual warrior, one who is so ready that he doesn't have to pull out his sword because his inner vigilance allows him to not let the thought pattern to even arise in his conciousness. It takes practice and time. At first you have to cut the heads of those thoughts pattern, you can do it in your mind - slash! - and eventually they will vanish. Anyways, nice churning. Loved it - Regards Yves regards Manoshi , Yves Décarie <yves> wrote: > Dear Manoshi, > > you wrote: > > Another thought of mine. Maybe not suitable, but normal. We don't have to judge others. If the person did it, it is because it is the way that that person knows how to survive to a treatening situation for him or her. It is a learning process that saved the equilibrium of that person once or maybe twice or more in the past( it may be a very old pattern). So it has been very useful to that person. This person is now repeating what he has learned in the past in unfit situations in the present and that may cause harm. So this person has to learn that this mechanisim is not necessary anymore, and may have to learn to react to what exists in front of him only, and not to react to memories that he has. On your side you have the right to tell that person that his reaction in unfit to the situation. More people will tell him, more chances he will have to realize that his reactions are not suitable. regards Yves regards Manoshi -- In , "khallopapa" <khallopapa> wrote: > Dear Yves, > > Let me clarify one thing....I am not an evolved being. Guest guest
Dear Friends i am confused with this post. Not exactly sure if the subject is in context to the contents Are we discussing on : Addictions (feel its an over-kill to use this word in context to the post ) [ OR ] Human Dreams, determination & efforts ( however irrational ) [ OR ] HYPOCRISY or other human negative traits. Please clarify. Incidentally one of my fave mythological heros is KARNA in the mahabharat.. he knew his position & yet i cant help but love him for his principles... does that make him addictive ?? Sorry, if i spoke too soon, i definitely will re-read the post in detail at home without distractions. rgds Manju Yves Décarie [yves] Tuesday, June 29, 2004 10:06 AM Re: Addiction.....Get Rid of It Dear Manoshi, you wrote: I will give you another example....from my real experience. People hide behind a disguise to put another person down...so that his/her image is not tarnished. Isn't that abnormal? Well, again this example is for a very normal, ordinary person...not for evolved beings. I hope you relate to this at least ;-) - No this is a very normal reaction, simply because it exists. Guest guest
Hello Yves, Nice thoughts those. I believe accepting oursleves as we are is the first step to any kind of development maybe that's one more meaning of "Charity begins at home" ... as long as it's dosent end "Next Door" I think we can give a honest apprisal of what we are only when we begin to accept ourselves as we are realising that the so called good or bad are subjective to only a given framework of thought we are used to ... once we expand our vision our own inherent tendencies and desires will take us one way or the other ... --- Yves_Décarie <yves wrote: > Dear Manoshi, > > > you wrote: > I will give you another example....from my real > experience. > People hide behind a disguise to put another person > down...so that > his/her image is not tarnished. Guest guest
Thanx Yves. Will post more material for churning soon. Believe me , it was a very good churning and I enjoyed it. I really want these kind of responses so that we can see our creation from all perspectives. First we feel good because we feel like everybody else, and the second step is to put everybody else where we are...You might be able to recognize your own disabilities, and it is a favorable ability in the process of growing, but not «everybody» does. Do not put yourself in a general basket, and don't put everybody else in yours....It will help you to find exactly your inner centre. > > it's a diffrent thing that we dont want to admit ot > recognize them because of our ego. > > - Yes, ego thing. Guest guest
Dear Manoshi, you are welcome. Best regards Yves - khallopapa Tuesday, June 29, 2004 6:38 AM Re: Addiction.....Get Rid of It Thanx Yves. Guest guest
Dear Manju, I think one of the best example of «I AM-NESS» in the Mahabharat is when the incarnation of Dharma is lead by Krishna to not respect the rules of combat and tell him to strike the knee of his oponent. It is against the rules of a clean fight, but the need of killing this opponent is so great that even the incarnation of rightness has to bend the rule to accomplish his duty. He has to transcend what makes him what he is in a given framework, in order to be able to respond to the demand of the SELF or I AM, same thing ( represented by Krishna). Regards Yves - Manjunath, T (MED) Tuesday, June 29, 2004 4:06 AM RE: Addiction.....Get Rid of It Dear Friends i am confused with this post. Guest guest
Dear Manoshi, One good thing about your mails and observations is that it helps me realise the mistakes I have made in my own life and put things in prespective. I beleive we all have inherent wisdom of some kind (Jupiter is present in all charts ) however often when in emotion we seem to be not able to bring this wisdom into play ... or at least that's the saddest part of my story ... it is exactly for this reason that we need friends/foes or someone remind us of what we already know ... Many of your mails have helped me think and bring into focus what is important in life ... Thanks, Surya. --- khallopapa <khallopapa wrote: > Beautiful Surya > > manoshi > > , surya > vishnubhotla > <surya_prakashv> wrote: > > Hello Yves, > > > > Nice thoughts those. Guest guest
Hmm interesting observation ... the same things probably goes when Krishna threatens to break his vow of not wielding weapons in the war to when arjuna is not able to withstand Bhisma ... It's a clear message that establishing Dharma has been given greater importance than Karma or even his own vow ... (or was it that he was sure that this threat was enough to bring the best out of arjuna?) --- Yves_Décarie <yves wrote: > Dear Manju, > > I think one of the best example of «I AM-NESS» in > the Mahabharat is when the incarnation of Dharma is > lead by Krishna to not respect the rules of combat > and tell him to strike the knee of his oponent. Guest guest
Dear Yves/Surya, So very true...why cannot we be what we are? why do we lie and pretend?.. just for the good image sake in public? to win the popularity contest? We must be what we are, what we think is right and follow our own principles. To be differnt with with different people is not adjustability ,its sign of a weak person. Oh My God! I am getting late..have to rush now... see another addiction..;-) see u later Manoshi , Yves Décarie <yves> wrote: > Dear Surya, > > yes exactly, and our birth chart can help us to do that. > By understanding the strenghts and weaknesses of our chart it can help us to > understand intellectually who we are. Guest guest
Good one. I personally have begun to see zodiac to be representative of different areas of life and planets in them showing the personality traits we assume in that particular area of life. Transits/dasas to indicate dominant personality traits in the house concerned ... --- Yves_Décarie <yves wrote: > Dear Surya, > > yes exactly, and our birth chart can help us to do > that. > By understanding the strenghts and weaknesses of our > chart it can help us to > understand intellectually who we are.
