Guest guest
Dear friends, As I read the article I see many points I would like to add to and even contest .. however I am terribly short of time right now .. hopefully soon ! Coming to mantras being recited in the morning, I presume what is being implied here is to recite maha mantras during the Brahmi muhurtha time (4-8 loosely and 6-7 practically) ... the same brahmi muhurtha holds in the evening as well .. in any case ... people who do trikala sandhyavandanam have to do gayatrhi thrice a day .. so the theory goes down the drain that only morning times are good ! Regarding women not doing gayathri mantra .. I dont at all agree with women not being able to take the power et all ... the only reason that I know of is that mantras like gayathri mantra should be taken up for recitation only on a daily basis (at least from brahmins it's a daily discharge of duty) and women during their monthly period cycles cannot fulfill this obligation ... and this is the biggest hinderance ... otherwise women can do upasana of almost any mantra !! Also .. Mantras are not just a collection of sounds .. as far as my perception or understanding goes ... the energy engulfed in mantras is always there even before the mantra is formulated ... it's that divine sages in a state of higher consciousness encapsulate them in words and forms ... I am not sure gayathri mantra is the mother of all mantras because it originated from "OM" (do we see vishvamitra churning in his grave??) and all mantras in turn come from it !!! ... it is surely the highest mantra but for different reasons altogether !! catch u guys later !!
