Guest guest Posted June 6, 2004 Report Share Posted June 6, 2004 dear rohini jee (and others), nice system you have mentioned. but well, i guess the word file uploading might not a very good idea since you have mentioned that different people use different software and also uploading, downloading, etc trouble will dicourage many members from participating. so i have two suggestions - 1. to avoid being embarrassed, you members can post your answers to the one sets the quiz! so when the time expires the quiz-giver member can announce the name of successful answerers and also send their mails to the list "AS IT IS" [WITHOUT ANY SORT OF ALTER, JUST COPY / PASTE OR USING FW: COMMAND.] so members posting wrong guesses won't be embarrassed! 2. rohini jee it seems to me that it is an ocean of quizzes we are given! it is so difficult by us, i guess. at least for me. so can we try the quizzes one by one, i mean send the first one's answer to you, then after 2/3/4 days you announce the answer and also the answerers' names, and then we try the next one? it is only a suggestion though, nothing otherwise meant best wishes, tanvir. I already uploaded the quiz answers using a password protected wordperfect file :-) There should not have been any confusion, as I wrote in my earlier mail, it is a smorgasbord. People have the option to pick and choose items or taste everything available. No one is watching or counting how many gulabjamuns one picked up! <hehe> I have run similar quizes earlier and my strong feeling and some of the feedback I received indicates that people hate to be wrong -- particularly if they have assumed the belief that astrology is highly accurate and have claimed it to be so. Most such impressions are anecdotal because it is just not kosher to question the validity of jyotish and to question the validity of the sacred ancient classics. That kind of attitude/belief spells trouble for most of us and confines us from poking and probing and growing. After all, we do not own anything to astrology. On the contrary, it ows its existence to us! If everyone stopped discussing and spending endless of hours and energies into astrology, what would happen? Human life will still continue just as it did for the last 100000 years, long before Rishis and Astrology came to this world. But if we stop talking about it, astrology will die! So, don't be silent, don't hesitate to poke it, question it, because that is how you will keep her alive! As I said, many options are there: a) post on the message board b) do as many as you can, don't have to do all the quizes (more coming if you folks want them -- I have tonnes of those and most of these are from regular people, the kind you will see commonly and not celebrity charts with questionable and doctored times etc) c) or post using the word/wordperfect file format. d) If lot of people participate, I would rather not agree to be the repository of email as Tanvir suggested, for the quizes I post <sorry!>. e) Another <passive> option is to answer the quizes without posting.
