Guest guest
Dear Friends, Regardless of the spiritual potential that exists in small, unexplored corners of jyotish texts, particularly classics, much of jyotish, to my reading and understanding is aimed at ordinary, mundane, routine matters. Routine matters that to the average 'householder' can bring much anguish, a feeling of helplessness and even pain. The following are the areas that keep coming up in larger numbers as jyotish questions or things individuals seek readings for: Relationships marriage and love children and parents work colleagues and siblings Finances, security of comfortable living, now and particularly in old age Occupation, particularly in these cruel days when jobs are lost for no fault of individuals Success and fame (particularly when pot-bellied politicians and CEOs approach you) Diseases and remedies: prognosis, diagnosis, quality of life Line of work: which is the best path to follow, business or service Line of study: which educational track to go into Longevity Spiritual quest and progress While it is tempting to delve into the higher realm, very little individual benefit would accrue to the individual who seeks a reading. On the other hand, the other *boring* (as some call those!) worldly matters abound aplenty and must remain the focus of jyotishis and an area where skills must continually be honed. Fact of matter is that if a cold study is conducted, success rates of most jyotishis would not hold up to their or their fans' claims. If it were that simple, jyotishis would be accepting challenges to demonstrate their abilities all over the place. They don't and endeavours like the Hamilton Project, initiated sincerely are doomed. Part of the fault is in the design, the designing ability of the researchers involved, lack of resources and so on. I hope I am not boring or upsetting anyone who would rather not explore or face reality. The intention is not to belittle or challenge anyone but to stimulate and encourage all, particularly those who have not yet pinned their egos to jyotish, to bear the responsibility of not only carrying the torch but to make sincere efforts of lighting it first before letting the hamstrings take a go at it. Guest guest
Rohini, There is nothing boring about the troubles we face in our lives .. and there is no secondary ulterior motive of Jyotish than to solve the mundane problems of our lives .. because they are real to the person experiencing them !! Also, I believe that when someone comes to a jyotish with his chart to solve his problem .. it's a patient with a disease going to a doctor ... to the patient the doctor can fix it !! to a doctor he is just another vulnerable human being prone to his irritations and downs during any day ... What I mean to highlight is that there should be a code of ethics that we should consciously imbibe when we look into charts ... it's our responsibility not to be fatalistic or be careless in what we see and say .. and more specifically say what we know for sure or at least are reasonably sure of .. because the person reading our response, by his own belief, might take it to be true and act accordingly ... I have learnt a bit of astrology myself ... but I have tried to refrain from giving analysis unless I am very sure .. and I know that will take time ... In this respect, the tests taht Tanvir is putting across is invaluable to test our skills ... In some ways maybe retro fits can help us learn ... much like how a doctor learns .... Thanks for sharing ur views ! --- rohiniranjan <rrgb wrote: > Dear Friends, > > Regardless of the spiritual potential that exists in > small, > unexplored corners of jyotish texts, particularly > classics, much of > jyotish, to my reading and understanding is aimed at > ordinary, > mundane, routine matters.
