Ishta Devata - planet exalted or debiliated???

Hi,

 

Would like a reply for this...what's the difference between the

planet that signifies Ishta Devata being exalted or debilitated??

 

I have Mars signifying Ishta Devata exalted in Capricorn (in navamsa

lagna) but a friend of mine has Mars as Ishta Devata debilitated in

Cancer (sixth house from navamsa lagna).

 

Could someone please explain?
